I am all-in on the digital economy. I use my Apple Watch and Apple Pay and Apple Card to conduct commerce. I try to carry as few credit cards as possible. But my wife still uses a checkbook and assorted credit cards, including store-specific payment and loyalty cards. But she also needs her iPhone when out and about. A cell phone purse is a great way to combine her old and new requirements, so I let her try the sample the Mule Clutch Wallet ($66.50) that Allett sent me.

She (and I) liked the quality design and materials including gold-toned zipper and accents of Allett's iPhone purse. The clutch itself is made of a waxy tanned leather. The clutch comes in black or tan, although somehow I ended up with a burgundy model! Allett's wallets feature RFID blocking, which is becoming more important as our cards become more intelligent. Despite the thin design, the iPhone purse has four pockets each capabale of holding five cards. There's even a slot for a checkbook! Allett also includes a microscopic pen, which has its own slot and is helpful for the aforementioned checkbook.

My wife has an iPhone 8 and that seems to be the sweet spot for this clutch. I was able to fit an iPhone 11, in a decent case, but that's a stretch, literally. Don't expect an OtterBox-ensconced phone to fit, let alone any of the Max or Plus iPhones.
Pros
-
Quality, waxy tanned leather
- RFID blocking
- Four pockets for five cards each
- Slot for checkbook
- Includes compact pen
Cons
- Will not fit a phone in a large, rugged case or a Max or Plus-sized iPhone
Final Verdict
The Mule Clutch Wallet from Allett can help you meet the needs of the past, of today, and the future, as long as your phone isn't too big.
