Since AI has access to all the knowledge on the internet, it can be a great educational resource. Rather than just answering questions, an AI assistant can be used to actually teach you a new skill for free. A fun way to approach this is to create a seven-day challenge that gives you a small daily task or assignment with daily reminders and feedback that will help you succeed.

- It's easy to learn new skills for free using the tools you already have.

Use AI to Build an Educational 7-Day Challenge
There is so much to learn in the world, but time, finances, and willpower are often in the way. One of my favorite ways to use AI is to learn new things. You can use your favorite AI assistant to create short seven-day challenges, which can be a great approach to learning new skills. I'll teach you how to work with AI to create a unique challenge that will give you daily tasks, reminders, and assessments to help you learn something new.
1. Pick something you could reasonably learn in 7 days.
A week is not a long time, so you have to keep things reasonable. While you can't learn a new language in just seven days, you could learn a certain number of new words, or enough to have a simple conversation about a specific topic. You could even use AI to help you figure out what to learn by asking, "What are some examples of skills I could reasonably learn in just seven days by creating an AI challenge?" Examples include solving a Rubik's Cube, getting started with the ukulele, learning to edit photos, and mastering a magic trick.

2. Once you pick a skill, set a realistic goal based on how much time you want to spend on the skill every day.
Figure out how much time you want to spend on this every day and use that to determine a schedule and a goal. For example, if I start playing the ukulele, I could tell the AI assistant that I want to spend 15 minutes a day learning three chords that will culminate in being able to play a simple song in just a week. You can even ask the AI app if your goal is doable based on the time you will spend on it every day.
3. Split your final goal up into 7 bite-sized sessions with specific steps and micro-goals.
Ask your AI assistant to break your big goal into smaller parts. For example, if you want to learn how to play a song on the ukulele, your chatbot might help you pick a song and make a note of the chords you will need to learn. It can assign you a chord to learn every day and include other skills and practice time you might need along the way.
4. Ask for a daily reminder to work on the challenge at a time of day that works best for you.
One of the hardest parts of a challenge like this is to actually remember to pause your busy day and work on it. You could set up alarms and calendar events on your phone, or you can ask AI to send you a daily reminder at a time that you know will be conducive to learning a new skill. Once you've scheduled your daily assignments, you can ask AI to send you a daily reminder with the exact task of the day so that it's easy for you to follow through.
5. Turn your AI assistant into an accountability coach.
A simple reminder or notification might not be enough to motivate you, so you can ask your AI assistant to hold you accountable. You can ask it to check whether you completed the task and offer tips if you are stuck. In the ukulele playing example, AI can recommend some exercises you can do to master a chord you are struggling with. It can also come up with a song you can already play with just two chords to get you excited and feeling like you've truly made progress. Other options include suggested finger placement tips, help with counting beats, or explanations of time signatures.
6. Show off your skill and get feedback.
At the end of seven days, you can show your AI app what you've learned. If you learned to play a song, you can record yourself playing it via audio or video, upload it to the app, and get feedback. In this particular example, ChatGPT (free) can listen to your recording and let you know if you kept a steady beat or if you rushes, it can assess if your chord changes were smooth, and if one of the chords needs more practice to get just right. If you send in a video of yourself playing, it could even give you feedback on your finger placement, wrist position, posture, etc. Having a final test or performance can be encouraging and unlike showing a new skill to a loved one, an AI assistant won't sugarcoat what it "thinks". You can even request a brutally honest answer that will help you understand your progress and feel confident in your new skill.
Now you know how to use ChatGPT or an alternative AI assistant to create a seven-day challenge to learn how to play a song on the ukulele. You can create your own challenge by following these steps, or you could even try to put everything into a single prompt. Don't forget that you can always tweak whatever your AI app comes up with and you can make adjustments along the way if you need more time to complete the challenge or find yourself with extra free time and want to change your goal. With the help of AI, the world can be your oyster! Hopefully this article helped you discover a new valuable use for your favorite AI app.
