Everything We Can Expect from WWDC 2025

Apple is holding its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) from June 9 through June 13. Apple's new artificial intelligence started rolling out its first features with the release of iOS 18 on September 16, and most of them are now available on compatible iPhone models. Apple's AI-powered features are collectively called Apple Intelligence, and they promise to super-power Siri, generate images from text prompts, rewrite your emails in different tones, summarize web pages or emails, and much more. However, these features rely on the neural engine hardware built into the phone, and only the very latest generations of iPhone will sport neural engines powerful enough to unlock Apple Intelligence. So, is it worth an upgrade?

During its June 10 WWDC keynote, Apple unveiled Apple Intelligence, a new artificial intelligence system for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. This new technology is powered by on-device processing and new private Apple silicon servers, which Apple has dubbed, “Private Cloud Compute.” With Apple Intelligence, you’ll have access to AI tools that will help you improve your writing, create artwork, communicate more clearly with Siri, and so much more.

5 Things You Need to Know from Apple's iPhone 16 Event

Apple's much-anticipated fall event brought us updates to three device lines: the iPhone 16, the Apple Watch 10, and the AirPods 4. Each category brought us a few headlining features, but whether or not you should upgrade each device depends largely on what device you already have. The entire 16 line sports the A18 chip, specially designed for Apple Intelligence features, and a brand new Camera Control button. We also see some Pro features come to the base models, such as the Action Button. The Apple Watch 10 sports a slimmer profile and a larger screen option than before and an important health feature that detects sleep apnea. The AirPods 4 also sees many of the AirPods Pro 2 features join its ranks, while the AirPods Pro 2 are getting a software update that can make them function as hearing aids. What’s Coming for Apple Watch with watchOS 11

Apple introduced a slew of updates to watchOS during the 2024 WWDC Keynote on June 10. This year's keynote focused primarily on how Apple will incorporate AI into its software. However, the Apple Watch seems to be fairly immune to these new AI features. Instead, Apple appears to be staying true to the device’s fitness tracker origins and honing in on the convenience of a smartwatch.

Opinion: Apple’s M4 iPad Pro Checks All the Boxes

Apple released two new iPads Pro with the M4 processor and two new iPad Airs with the M2 processor at its "Let Loose" event. Both are available for purchase as of May 7, 2024, and shipments begin May 15, 2024. Though the updates to these devices are mostly iterative improvements over the previous versions, they essentially check all the boxes on my wishlist, making this, in my estimation, the finest update I’ve seen to iPads and the ideal time to upgrade.

While Apple enthusiasts have been anticipating the annual WWDC keynote, happening June 10, the May 7 Let Loose event announcement has come as a happy surprise. Apple hasn’t provided a lot of information about this event, but because of the event photo featuring an Apple Pencil and the fact that iPads are often announced in the spring, we are expecting new iPads, an Apple Pencil, and maybe other Apple accessories too.
