Awe Dropping: What to Expect from Apple's September Event

What to Know

  • Apple's September event, "Awe Dropping," will be held September 9, 2025, at 10 a.m. PDT.
  • Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 17 line, which may include a new ultra-thin "Air" model.
  • Other potential device reveals are the Apple Watch and Apple Watch Ultra, as well as the AirPods Pro 3.

Apple has announced its fall event, which is almost certain to bring us the new iPhone line. It's being held on September 9 at 10:00 a.m. PDT and will be available to watch online. In addition to the usual iPhone models, we might see an iPhone 17 Air, the Apple Watch Series 11 and Apple Watch Ultra 3, and the AirPods Pro 3. Let's dive into everything we can expect from Apple's fall announcement.

When Is Apple's iPhone 17 Event?

Apple announced its September event, which is likely to bring us the new iPhone line, will be on Tuesday, September 9, at 10:00 a.m. Pacific time. The event is titled "Awe Dropping," which doesn't give too many outright hints as to what we're going to be getting (I cannot imagine a world that includes the Apple Awe). Typically, though, the first (and sometimes only) fall event of the year brings us the new iPhone line, so we can feel confident in at least one thing we will be seeing. Let's take a deeper look at what might be coming our way.

The iPhone 17

The iPhone 17 is almost guaranteed to be announced on September 9 and available for preorder shortly after. In addition to the regularly released base model iPhone, Pro, and Pro Max models, rumor has it that this year we might see the iPhone 17 Air, a slimmer, entry-level model. Another question at hand: will Apple keep the name 17? After switching all of its operating device names to 26 to match the upcoming year, I wonder if it might do the same with the iPhone line. None of the rumors I read allude to such a thing, so my official prediction is we'll see the iPhone 17, but Apple has been known to shake up its iPhone naming conventions, like when it introduced the iPhone X to celebrate iPhone's tenth anniversary. We'll have to see. Read a full rundown of what the iPhone 17 line might be bringing our way.

Apple Watch Series 11 & Ultra 3

We're expected to see at least one new Apple Watch model, the Apple Watch Series 11 (assuming no name change), and the big rumor here is that it may include blood pressure detection. While it's likely that Apple may want a big headlining health feature, given their recent drama with their pulse ox sensors, now that those sensors are back online, they may not need anything quite so flashy.

It's also possible we'll see the new generation of Apple Watch Ultra and SE, giving users a variety of models to choose from. Check out all the Apple Watch rumors we're hearing so far.

Other Possible Device Drops

It's common for Apple to announce other devices alongside the new iPhone line. This year, we might see the AirPods Pro 3, a new Vision Pro, a new generation of AirTags, and even a smart screen home assistant. Check out everything we might see from Apple this year.
