It’s a new year, which means a new iPhone lineup coming this fall. You might be wondering what to expect from this year’s iPhone. Will we see a new model as we did with the iPhone Air last year? What kind of upgrades will we get with the latest iPhone? Let’s go over the latest iPhone rumors.

iPhone 18 Rumors

This year’s iPhone, which will likely be called the iPhone 18, is looking to introduce some enhancements that could make upgrading your phone worth it. Let’s take a look at some of these rumored new features.

A New Camera for the iPhone Pro Max

The iPhone 17 Pro introduced a redesigned camera, extending the camera bump across the entire top edge of the device. According to rumors reported on by CNET, the iPhone 18 Pro will retain the "plateau" design of the iPhone 17 Pro’s camera bump, while the base iPhone 18 bump will be slightly smaller than the iPhone 17’s "pill" design.

Besides the design, the camera itself will likely be upgraded, too. MacWorld reports that the iPhone 18 Pro Max could be upgraded with a mechanical aperture. This would mean the aperture would open wider when in low light conditions and narrow in bright light, allowing for sharper pictures. The iPhone 18 Pro and its base model will likely sport the same cameras as last year’s iPhones.

Dynamic Island Changes?

There are many rumors about the Dynamic Island on the iPhone 18 and 18 Pro, suggesting that Apple has moved the Face ID sensor under the display. That would imply that the Dynamic Island could be slightly smaller, freeing up screen real estate. According to The Information, the front-facing camera could also be moved to the upper left corner.

Bigger Battery, Faster Processor

Like every iPhone upgrade, the iPhone 18 lineup is expected to have bigger batteries. The iPhone 18 Pro specifically could have a battery of more than 5000 mAh. For reference, the eSIM version of the iPhone 17 Pro Max has a 5088 mAh battery, and Apple claims it can last up to 39 hours.

Additionally, the processor will likely be the A20 chip in the base iPhone 18 and the A20 Pro in the iPhone 18 Pro. The entire lineup is rumored to come equipped with 12 GB of RAM. All of this together should make the iPhone 18 faster than any other iPhone before. To keep up with the latest iPhone news and rumors, be sure to sign up for our free Tip of the Day newsletter.

Foldable iPhone

In addition to all of the upgrades we talked about above, there are rumors that Apple will be introducing a folding iPhone this year, called the iPhone Fold. The iPhone Fold will likely be a notebook-style foldable device with two cameras on the rear, a selfie camera on the front, and a camera under the display on the inside. Supposedly, Apple has perfected the foldable phone, and it will not have a visible crease in the center of the screen like other foldable devices.

Such a complex device will likely come with a hefty price tag, too. According to Engadget, the rumored price of the iPhone Fold will be upwards of $2000 for the smallest storage size (which will likely be 256 GB).

When Does the Next iPhone Come Out?

The new iPhone lineup will likely be revealed and released in the fall. Typically, Apple reveals new iPhones within the first two weeks of September, with the devices themselves releasing a week later.
