REVIEW: Trip Tracker GPS App Tracks All Your Trips

The introduction of the Apple Watch brought a lot of focus to fitness and activity tracking apps. However, not everyone has an Apple Watch and it would be nice to track all kinds of trips, not just workouts. That's where Trip Tracker GPS (FREE) from Christine Wang comes in. Instead of having separate apps to track running, cycling, boating, business, leisure and other trips, you have one app with a clean user interface.

I like the green on black design, reminiscent of old "green screen" computer terminals. The app makes use of text-to-speech, so you don't have to look at your screen all the time, which is helpful for driving, cycling, running, etc. You can export your trip data ,which is great for business folks who need to track mileage. I also appreciate that the app is free to try. Although, to take full advantage, there are a number of in-app purchases. And for those who do indeed have an Apple Watch, it would be nice to have an Apple Watch extension to start and stop trips. Maybe that will be in a future update.

Pros

  • Nice color contrasting design
  • One app for fitness, business, leisure trips
  • Free to try

Cons

  • An Apple Watch extension would be a nice touch
  • In-app purchases add up

Final Verdict:

If you want fewer apps but still want to track your workouts and trips, the Trip Tracker GPS from Christine Wang does the job.
