Staples Offers Black Friday Amazon Echo Dot Deal

The Black Friday 2016 ads are leaking already, some intentionally and some not so intentionally. If an Amazon Echo Dot is on your wishlist (and it should be) set your calendar as they will be discounted from $49.99 to $39.99 at Staples, online on Thanksgiving Thursday and in store on Black Friday. Keep in mind that the original Echo Dot was $89.99 just a few months ago. Now, at under $40, you can get one for every room in the house.

So why would you want one in every room? Amazon's Echo products let you speak commands like "Alexa, play smooth jazz" and it will do just that. Every week, the Alexa service gets more powerful as developers add news, trivia, entertainment and even home automation services. I can control my thermostat and lighting from Alexa. One thing I haven't done is integrate my door lock and garage door, because, in theory, someone could shout through an open window "open the front door" and then game over! But for trivial things like lighting and music, it's a great way to make your smart home even smarter. And saving 20% on Black Friday makes you smart, too!
