Review: iHome's Mirror & Bluetooth Speaker Combination Now Comes with Alexa

Over a year ago, I wrote about iHome's combination mirror and bluetooth speaker. And that was an update to the previous model, which I reviewed in 2016. Time marches on, and nowadays, any Bluetooth speaker really ought to have Alexa built in, so iHome went ahead and did it! The company sent me the iCVA66 Mirror with Alexa and Bluetooth Speaker ($199.99) to try and I think the company finally has perfected it. You can reenact Snow White and ask your own Magic Mirror who is the fairest of them all. Just be sure to initiate your question with "Alexa!"

But seriously, adding Alexa to this device is a great combination because it is likely to be in the bathroom. You can shout from your shower to have Alexa play music, tell you the weather, traffic, news, or all of the above. Get your "Flash Briefing" while you are flashing your mirror! I'm assured there is no camera behind the mirror! Instead of iCVA66, I wish the folks at iHome gave it a clever name, like Magic Mirror, but iHome has so many products I guess they have to resort to obscure codes.

I liked the mirror's compact, stylish design, and it has decent cosmetic chops with 1x and 5x magnification (and a 10x removable smaller mirror) and high and low LED lighting options. There's even a spare USB port for charging another device. You could add a Qi-based wireless charger to have a pretty sweet setup. Sure, it's a bit pricey, but if you add up the costs of the different components, it's not too much of a premium, and the coolness factor and usefulness factor are pretty solid.

Pros

  • Compact, stylish design
  • 1x and 5x magnification mirror
  • High and Low LED lighting options
  • Bluetooth speaker with microphone for speakerphone use
  • Alexa built in and USB port for charging another device

Cons

  • Pricey

Final Verdict

If you always dreamed of a Magic Mirror straight out of Snow White, the iCVA66 Mirror with Alexa and Bluetooth Speaker from iHome can help you live out your fantasy while you get ready for work!
