How do I make calls quickly?

You iPhone gives you a lot of options when it comes to making phone calls, and it makes it easy to access the Phone app when you're most likely to need it. Here are some of the fastest ways to call.

Add a phone number to your Favorites list:

The Favorites list acts like a speed dial system on other phones. You can use it to store your most frequently used numbers, and even add e-mail addresses for contacts you want to use FaceTime with. You can add numbers to your Favorites list as follows:

  • From Contacts: Open Phone >Contacts, go to the desired individual, tap on the Add to Favorites button at the bottom of the screen.

  • From Favorites: Go to Phone >Favorites and tap on the "+" sign in the top right of the screen; this brings up your contacts list. Find and tap on the desired individual, the select Voice Call or FaceTime from the pop-up menu.

  • From Recents: Open Phone >Recents and find the call you want to add to Favorites. Tap on the small blue arrow to the right of the call and select the Add to Favorites button from the Info screen.

Place a call using favorites

Open Phone >Favorites and tap on the name or number you want to call.

Call back a person who left a voicemail

The iPhone's Visual Voicemail feature lets someone leave you a message if you don't answer his or her call. When you're checking your voicemail on your iPhone, you can call the person back very quickly. Simply tap on their message and then tap on the Call Back button at the bottom of the screen.

Tap on a phone number in Web pages, e-mails, etc.

The iPhone converts all phone numbers displayed in Web pages, texts, or e-mails into hot links. Simply tap on the number to place the call.
