iOS 9.1 Now Available

The day is here! Apple released iOS 9.1 today for public download. The update includes over 150 new emoji characters (including the beloved taco and burrito) and an update for Live Photo wherein the camera senses movement to refrain from unwanted recordings.

This is the third update since Apple released iOS 9 in September, and the fifth update for developers and beta testers. The iOS 9.1 update includes support for Unicode 7 and 8 and introduces many new emojis such as the middle finger, cheese wedge, and unicorn. Live Photos now sense if the camera is raised up or down, preventing accidental capture. There is also a new option in Settings app for Messages, allowing users to disable photos for contacts. The update brings Apple News to the UK.

Apple, too, introduced tvOS golden master today in preparation for the Apple TV release. The new Apple TV will require iOS 9.1 for set up using an iOS device. The iOS 9.1 update prepares for iPad Pro compatibility as well. iOS 9.1 does the usual performance enhancement, security improvement, and bug fixes.
