I was outraged recently to receive a notification that my Apple Music family plan's price was increasing from $16.99 to $19.99 per month. $20 just for my ex-girlfriend, my late dog (I had to make him a child account to demonstrate something for a tip), and me to listen to my Cake-only playlist for a month?? And for those with an individual account, the price is jumping from $10.99 to $11.99.
It's still cheaper than Spotify, though, which puts individual plans at $12.99/month and family plans at $21.99/month. Spotify does have the edge in one area, though, offering "Duo" plans for two users for $18.99, though both Duo and family plans require all users to live at the same address, a requirement not shared by Apple's family plan. I suspect Apple will keep prices just beneath Spotify's to lure users away from the more popular service—but I can still be upset the prices are going up!
