This week, Apple released iOS 26.5, patching a variety of security vulnerabilities, as well as bringing encryption to RCS messaging between iPhones and Android phones. This is a huge win for iPhone users: now we can text with non-iPhone users and keep our messages encrypted.
In other security news, there was a major breach at Canvas, an education platform used by the vast majority of higher education institutions in the US. We've got a write-up about this breach, along with many other stories about hacks, compromises, and privacy breaches.
