16-year old racecar driver visualizes race data at pit stops

Zach Veach

Zach VeachWhat do you do? I'm a 16-year-old racecar driver.

Which devices do you use? The iPhone, iPad and MacBook Pro.

How long have you had them? I've had Apple products for a while now. I remember getting one of the first iPods for my birthday a few years ago, and I've been hooked ever since; Apple fits my lifestyle.

How do you use them? I use my iPod when I'm driving in my car through an aux cable or listen to it while I'm training. I use my MacBook Pro for just about everything: playing games, homework, and studying video for my racing. I use my iPad for playing games but also use at the racetrack to see my timing. My engineer can just hand it to me while I'm in the cockpit, and I can see my lap times, see where I stack up against the competition, and see a track map, so we can talk about the many corners of the racetrack with ease.

What apps do you use the most and why? Well who doesn't love Tiny Wings ($.99, app2.me/3739) and Angry birds ($.99, app2.me/2749)? I'm a big gamer and I play a lot of racing games. I'm also always on Twitter and Facebook, and sometimes I even play Words With Friends ($2.99, app2.me/377) with Michael Andretti (my team owner).

How do they help you? They really all just make my life easier. Since I'm still in school, I'm on a pretty tight schedule between schoolwork and my training regimen, as well as my racing, sponsor, and media obligations. All of the devices communicate together with ease so no matter what device I'm using, my schedule is always within reach.

What would you do if you didn't have them? It would be unimaginable; I know my life would be a lot less organized and far more stressful!

Do you consider yourself an Apple fanatic? Yeah definitely—everything I do is on an Apple. From going to school, studying racetracks, getting my tweets out, and writing my journal for RACER magazine!

On a scale of 1 to 10, just how angry do you think the Angry Birds are? I would have to say about 11 ½. I mean, they are some vicious birds; sometimes I'm scared to go outside.

In three words or less, what would you ask Steve Jobs? "Sponsor my racecar?"
