How to Search the Notes App on iPhone

If you're looking for a particular note, you can search within individual folders in the Notes app. But what if you want to search through all the notes in the app all at once? It's easy to do. Just use Spotlight Search and its data-scouring capabilities. Spotlight Search is accessed by swiping down from the center of any Home screen. By searching your Notes with Spotlight Search, you can find any note you've created by searching for terms from a note. Here's how to search the Notes app on iPhone.

To do this, you need to make sure Notes is enabled in your Spotlight Search settings.

  • Open Settings and tap General.

  • Select Spotlight Search.
  • Scroll down the list of apps to find Notes and toggle it on.

  • Next time you swipe right from from Home screen, you’ll be able to use Spotlight Search to type the name or a term found in the content of a note. The note should appear within your search results. (You may need to scroll down.)
  • Tapping the search result will take you right to that note within the Notes app.
