Hi Readers, Cullen here.
News has just broken of a new (to us) kind of elite iPhone spyware called Caruna. It was developed by contractors working for the US government but has somehow leaked and ended up in the hands of criminals. This is a pretty rare event. The spyware was originally intended for espionage against high-value geopolitical targets, but now it’s being used by regular criminals to hack the phones of regular people. Fortunately, even this elite spyware can be stopped cold if you know what to do about it. Read our headline story below for more.
As always, if you encounter any scams, hacks, or trouble that our readers ought to know about, let us know by emailing security@iphonelife.com.
