How to Use the Calendar on Your iPhone

One of the most useful apps on the iPhone and iPad is one I use multiple times throughout the day: the Calendar app. You can create an event or appointment, and your Calendar can be synced between all your Apple devices using iCloud. In addition, you have the choice to use multiple calendars, such as one for work and one for home. Let's get started learning how to create Calendar events.

The Calendar app is one of the most useful tools on your iPhone.   1. Open the Calendar App.

  2. Once you're in the app, you can tap the month in the upper left to switch to month view.

  3. In month view, you can tap the year to switch to year view.

  4. In year view, you can see an overview of the year. Tap any month to go back to month view, and tap the day you want to add a Calendar event to.

  5. You can tap the List button to switch how you view events in your calendar.

  6. Tap the plus button to add an event to your calendar.

  7. Give the event a Title. You can also optionally add a Location like a physical address or a FaceTime call shortcut (if the event is remote). Adding a title to your event is the only required step; everything below is optional, though you will have a random time assigned to your event if you don't select it yourself.

  8. Select when you want the event to occur, including the day and time. If the event is all day, tap the All-day toggle. You can also add the amount of time it will take for you to reach where the event is taking place by tapping Travel Time.

  9. Tap Repeat if you want to know how to set up recurring events in your iPhone calendar.

  10. If you have multiple accounts connected to your calendar, select which calendar you want to add this event to.

  11. Tap Invitees to send email invites to contacts that you want to come to the event.

  12. Tap Alert to set when you want to be notified about this event. The Second Alert option will appear after you make a selection for the first Alert.

  13. Tap Show As to select whether you show as Busy or Free during this event.

  14. You can also add a URL or extra Notes.

  15. Tap Add when you are finished to add the event to your calendar.

  16. To edit an event, tap the event in your calendar.

  17. Tap Delete Event if you want to delete the event.

  18. Tap Edit to edit the event.

  19. Make the changes you want, and tap Done to save them.
