Sometimes you have a question that requires help from a real human expert who will walk through your specific situation with you. That's why Insiders are invited to join the exclusive Ask an Expert community. It's a private Facebook group just for subscribers, where you can direct your Apple hardware and software questions and get answers from a member of the iPhone Life team or one of our group experts—fellow Insiders who have volunteered to share their demonstrated expertise with the rest of the community.

What to Expect When You Join the Ask an Expert Community Facebook Group

As a group member you’ll:

  • Get expert answers to your questions from the iPhone Life team and group experts.
  • Meet fellow Insiders and enjoy being part of a community of Apple enthusiasts in a moderated, spam-free environment. 
  • Share your own expertise and help other Insiders with their questions.

What if I don't have a Facebook account?

If you don’t have a Facebook account, it’s easy to sign up. Once you’ve created a profile, navigate to the Facebook group, and answer the membership questions. You should be approved within a few business days.

I'm worried about security and privacy. Should I still join the Facebook group?

For the security conscious, the only risks associated with Facebook use are the same as any public-facing environment.

As with all public forums, the quality of the experience and the environment's safety depends on how the forum is moderated. We're invested in moderating this group to provide a positive, safe environment for Insiders. 

For the extra privacy conscious, you can visit Facebook in a privacy-focused browser (such as Safari or Firefox) rather than installing the Facebook app. Browsers have much less access to your device than apps, and a privacy-focused browser will strictly limit the kind of information Facebook can hoover up from your device.

How do I ask and answer questions using the Ask an Expert Facebook group?

Once you’re a member, check in often for new content, announcements, and updates. If you have a question about Apple hardware or software, feel free to post! To post:

  1. Enter your question into the Write something… field.

  2. Once you've entered your question, tap or click Post.

  3. To answer other Insiders' questions, reply as a comment on their post.

  4. As you interact with the group more, you’ll be able find your older questions and posts by entering your name in the search field.

Pro Tip:

Save time! Before going to the trouble of typing out a question, click or tap the search icon at the top-right of the page and enter your search term to find out if you question has already been asked and answered by another Insider.

Who will answer my questions?

A member of the iPhone Life team or a group expert will answer your questions during business hours, Monday through Thursday. But your question will also be crowdsourced meaning fellow Insiders can chime in. Many hands make light work, after all, and another Insider who's experienced the same problem as you may have an immediate answer.
