If you need to send a video from your iPhone to an Android, you will not be able to use the AirDrop feature. However, there are a few ways you can go about sending a video from an iPhone to an Android, such as text or email. We'll cover the best way to send videos from an iPhone to an Android, and how to send long videos on iPhone to an Android.

Send Videos to Android from iPhone

The first way to send videos from iPhone to Android is via SMS texts. Just because a person doesn't use iMessage, or uses the green texts, doesn't mean they can't receive a video in a text message.

Note: According to Apple, the size limit of attachments is determined by your cellular service provider. The video in the example below is 17 seconds long, but I've been able to send videos up to 35 seconds long using this method.

  1. On your iPhone, open the Photos app. open the photos app
  2. Tap the video you want to send. You can use the photo search feature if you need it. tap video you want to text
  3. Tap the Share button. tap share icon to share video
  4. Tap Messages, tap messages
  5. Type the Android user's number or name into the "To:" field, then tap the correct contact. tap contact you want to send video to
  6. Tap the Send button. tap the send icon to share video via messages

How to Send Video to Android from Email

How do you send long videos on iPhone? Email is a great method, especially if the recipient needs to be able to access the video on their computer. Here's how to send a long video from iPhone to an Android via email, using Mail Drop. Using this method means the recipient can access the video on their phone or their computer, to take up less storage on their phone.

Depending on which email provider you use, the steps will be slightly different. Let's go over how to send a long video from an iPhone to an Android using the Mail app.

Note: According to Apple, recipients have 30 days to download Mail Drop attachments.

  1. Open the Mail app. open the mail app
  2. Tap the Compose New Email icon. tap new email icon
  3. Type in the Android user's email address. tap email address in to field
  4. Compose your email and then tap the Attachments icon (looks like a paperclip). tap paper clip icon
  5. Tap Photo Library. tap photo library
  6. Swipe up on the horizontal gray bar. slide horizontal gray bar up
  7. Tap the Search icon. tap search icon to find video to share
  8. Find the video you're looking for and tap it, then tap the black check mark in the blue circle once the video has loaded. tap video you want then tap blue check mark
  9. Tap the Send icon (white arrow in blue circle). tap send arrow to send email with video

Use iCloud to Share Large Files

Another way to send large videos from iPhone to Android is through iCloud. You can upload the file to your iCloud account and then share that link. Learn all the ways to send large files from your iPhone.

Pro Tip: This section only works if your Photo app is already backed up to iCloud. So, learn how to back up your camera roll to iCloud if you haven't already.

  1. Open the Photos app and navigate to the long video you want to send. open the photos app
  2. Tap the Share button. tap share icon to share video via icloud link
  3. Tap Save. The video may take a few minutes to save, depending on how long it is. tap save to save icloud link
  4. Tap Copy iCloud Link. You can send this link via email or text. The person should be able to download it from there. tap copy icloud link
  5. Tap Paste to paste the iCloud Link into an email or text message. tap paste to paste icloud link
  6. Tap the Send icon to send the iCloud Photo Link. tap send icon to send icloud link video

Until the Apple ecosystem and the Android user interface can come to an agreement about how to share files wirelessly, these are the best options for sending large files like videos to an Android user from an iPhone. Hopefully, one day, we'll see Apple and Android phones sharing files using Bluetooth.
