Last week, I told you about Siri’s upcoming partnership with Google’s Gemini AI and asked for your thoughts. Well, I got a huge response from you expressing concern about how Google will handle your data. A couple of updates: First, Google reports that Gemini will run only on Apple’s own Private Cloud Compute servers. According to iPhone Life’s resident security expert, Cullen Thomas, “In theory, Gemini on Private Cloud Compute is a lot more private than ChatGPT via an API, which is what’s currently happening.” Because Private Cloud Compute allows Apple to run Gemini entirely on its own servers, Google should not have any access to users' private data. We'll keep you updated as we learn more.
Also, some of you asked about how to give Apple feedback on its decision to partner with Google for Apple Intelligence. There’s probably not much to be done about it at this point, given that Apple and Google have already inked their deal, but you can still visit Apple’s feedback page to make your voice heard. While there is no option to give feedback about Siri, specifically, you can select iPhone under Hardware Products and leave your Siri feedback there.
