Hi Readers, Cullen here.

This week, we’re highlighting two interesting guides for protecting yourself online. One is an updated set of recommendations from the US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency for how to lock down an iPhone to protect yourself from hackers, and the other is a guide by Wired intended to help teens stay safe online. They’re very different, but they’re both full of interesting advice that applies to everyone. We’ll be referencing both of them when we update our Security course next year! In the meantime, have a read, and as always, stay safe out there!

As the holiday season hits full swing, make sure to keep a sharp eye out for scams. The time of year when everyone is looking for deals on gifts and feeling generous has always been peak season for scammers, too. Watch out for sketchy deals on the web that are too good to be true, be wary of advertisements on social media, and always vet charities before you donate.

As always, if you encounter any scams, hacks, or trouble that our readers ought to know about, don’t hesitate to let us know by emailing security@iphonelife.com. Cheers, and happy holidays!
