Should I Delete My Siri History? Things to Know First
There are two main reasons for deleting Siri search data:
- Your iPhone sends Siri search data to Apple in order to improve Siri. You may wish to delete your voice search history in order to improve your privacy.
- Siri searches are stored because Siri learns about the way you speak to better detect and interpret your speech for future Siri searches. Users sometimes wish to reset this stored search data to allow Siri to re-learn their voice and speech. This is common when users are having a hard time getting Siri to understand their voice commands.

Can I See My Siri Voice Search History?
Since iOS 14 and its updates rolled out, iPhone users are no longer able to view Siri voice search history, but it's possible to see your written Siri search history when Type to Siri is enabled. Type to Siri allows you to type instructions to Siri after holding down the Siri activation button (the side button on iPhone X and later, or the Home button on older models) instead of speaking instructions to Siri. If you don't already have Type to Siri enabled, you'll need to do so in order to see your Siri history going forward.
How to Turn On Type to Siri
This setting needs to be turned on in settings before you're able to see your Siri search history. It should also be noted that that Siri search history only shows recent Siri searches; older search history is deleted.
- Open the Settings app.
- Search “Siri” in the search bar at the top of the screen. If you don't see a search bar, swipe down from the top of the screen and it will appear.
- Tap on the blue Siri icon in the search results.
- Toggle on Type to Siri if it's not already toggled on.
Now, when activating Siri via the appropriate button, you can type instructions or questions to Siri instead of speaking voice commands.
How to View Siri Search History
This is feature is only available when Type to Siri is enabled in iOS 14 or later.
- Activate Siri by holding down the Siri activation button (the side button on iPhone X and later, or the Home button on models that have a Home button).
- Swipe down.
- You can now view your recent Siri searches by scrolling through the list.
How to Delete Siri History
Did you ask Siri an embarrassingly personal question? Don’t worry, we’ll help you clear that awkward search history in no time at all. Clearing your Siri search history deletes both typed Siri searches and voice searches that have been stored.
It is worth considering that Siri gets better at understanding the way you speak over time via the corrections you make when using Siri. When you delete Siri search history, you also delete the data that Siri uses to “train” itself to understand you. If you'd rather go ahead and delete your Siri history, this is how you do so:
- Open the Settings app.
- Scroll down and tap on Siri & Search.
- Tap on Siri & Dictation History
- Select Delete Siri & Dictation History.
- Confirm that you want to delete your Siri history by tapping the Delete Siri & Dictation History option at the bottom of your screen.
Now you know how to turn on Type to Siri so that your Siri history is accessible, plus how to view your Siri search history and delete it if you choose to! I hope this Siri search history guide was helpful.
