How to Separate Audio from Video on iPhone (Third-Party App)
While the Photos app makes it easy to remove the audio from a video, it's more complicated to create an audio-only file. While I love the Photos app for it's many editing and organization features, I've found it much simpler (and faster) to download and use the third-party MP3 Converter app. (This app offers a paid option, but the audio extractor feature is available with the free version.) Here's how to extract audio from a video using the MP3 Converter app.
- To extract the audio from your video, open the MP3 Converter app.
- Tap the purple plus icon at the bottom of your screen.
- Tap the appropriate option to navigate to your video file. My video is saved in my Photos app, so I'll select Import From Camera Roll.
- Tap to select at least one video that you want to extract the audio from.
- Tap Add in the lower-right corner.
- Tap to select the video file.
- If you only want to extract a portion of the audio, drag the purple sliders to select which part of the audio you want to save.
- Next to Output Format, tap to select your preferred audio file type. MP3 is the most common option.
- Tap Convert.
- You now have an audio-only file! Tap Export to send the file to another person or save it on your iPhone.
- If you want to save the file on your iPhone, swipe up on the menu that appears and tap Save to Files.
- Navigate to the folder you want to save your video in, and tap Save.
Your audio-only file is now saved in your Files app. Now that you know how to extract audio using your iPhone, you might also enjoy learning how to add music to videos.
