UniQXcess iPad App Review
By admin
UniQXcess is an app that in its basic format is a file viewer; however, it boasts that you can access your files from your PC remotely. Which seems pretty cool; however, there is no Mac support, which to me seems a bit ironic, really. Anyway, I wasn’t able to test the remote access of the file viewer because I have a Mac. But I was still able to access the file viewer and view local files and files from my Dropbox account.
JumiCam iPhone App Review
By admin
The JumiCam app allows you to view streaming video from any web cam you want with ease. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to set up the software on my PC and then connect from my phone to see what’s going on at my house. The JumiCam app also works very well on either a 3G connection or WiFi which I was initially concerned about because streaming video can sometimes have issues on 3G.
Tutorial: Play MAME games on your iDevice
By Werner Ruotsalainen
If you come from Windows Mobile and are into playing MAME arcade games, you may well remember my full article dedicated to the emulation of arcade machines, including MAME, on the platform. (Note that the linked article doesn't show inline images; if you need them, check out THIS instead.)
Fortunately, on the iDevice, it's also possible to play MAME games. No, unlike on Windows Mobile, not the newer, vastly superior (NeoGeo / CPS), “only” the older ones, but it's still more than nothing, isn't it? And it's free – and is also compatible with several Bluetooth game controllers (see below).
J-Phonics Ear Monitors: Review
By admin
I enjoy listening to many different types of music. I think with merging all the different types of mobile platforms it help bring music to everyone. We can listen to music almost anywhere at any time we choose. Our music is usually no more than an arm length away. Regardless, of the type of music you like, it must sound good to you personally for you to enjoy it.
Ultimate Comparison of the iPhone 3G to other Mobile operating systems and devices - Part I
By Werner Ruotsalainen
At last, I was able to afford an iPhone 3G without an expensive data / phone plan (meaning a much higher starting price). Of course, I've been playing with the device since then.
Filamente SharePoint App Review
By admin
Filamente SharePoint is an app that every professional should have. Especially for those that are constantly involved with documents; this app is perfect for your needs. In a basic sense; Filamente allows you to upload, download, and share all of your desired documents. Even though that doesn’t seem like much; if you do a lot of business from your iPad or iPhone, then you realize the difficulty in viewing and uploading certain documents due to format. Luckily; this is where Filament SharePoint comes in to make things easier.
Everyone is looking for the best GPS app and CoPilot Live may have just taken that title. It’s a very user-friendly app that not only has audio capabilities, but also provides additional features to make the experience safer. It really does become your copilot without having to look at your phone or GPS while driving.
U.S. Traveller iPhone App Review
By admin
As the name describes, U.S. Traveler is made for travelers that call the United States their home and travel to countries outside their own. The application itself is overall very simple. In opening the app, on the “Countries” tab, you are presented with a list of countries & their correlating flags. I thought the added flags next to the country names were a nice touch, especially since most people can quickly find a country based on visual representation versus textual representation. I’ve traveled from the U.S. to numerous countries – Chile, Argentina, Germany & Italy to name a few. I cannot say that I was adequately prepared for the countries I visited, but this app for sure would have helped.
OrganiDoc HD for iPad
By admin
Do you miss having a USB drive on your iPad for file storage via a flash drive? Well, you may not miss it anymore once you discover OrganiDoc HD. It pretty much functions like a USB flash drive would. OrganicDoc HD is an iPad file-management app designed to support a wide range of files or file formats. When using this app, you can store movie or video files, images, and various document files in a clean interface. There are three main sections that are part of the app on the upper portion of the screen. They include a documents (doc) tab, the video (media) tab, and the images (photo) tabs. Different forms of files can be segregated and imported into these tabs.
iOS contact management (duplicate removal, import/export etc.) tips and tricks
By Werner Ruotsalainen
First, on my Mac, while I had the contacts in the Windows version of Microsoft Outlook 2010 under Parallels Desktop, I had iTunes solely under my Mac OS X and didn't want to install it under Parallels to keep the Parallels image size down. (Which is of paramount importance when you use Time Machine to back up the contents of your computer, including the disk images of your Parallels virtual machines and want to save as much storage as possible.) After all, there are only two cases when it's indeed worth having iTunes in your virtual machine if you, otherwise, use the OS X version to synchronize your iOS devices:
As you may have gathered from my last post about apps, I don’t get a lot of sleep. As a result, I’m quite the coffee addict. In fact, I like coffee almost as much as I like my iPhone! (What? Who said that? Can you believe this guy?) If it weren’t for coffee, I’d probably go into a deep sleep for like, ten years.
But I don’t have time to do that, iPhone Life-ers.
I gotta move, and I gotta shake!
Battle games have always been a favorite for many. So, it only made sense for Aeronauts: Quake In The Sky to become a contender. This is due to the extreme movement involved along with the difficult goal of defeating the enemy in the sky. That’s right; you are a weightless firefighting war plane that is attacking the sky with raging bullets and a quick reflex dodging oncoming fire from many enemy planes. In fact, it’s all up to your plane since you are the only one fighting the enemy. Luckily; there are some tricks that can be used to finally win!
With the release of iOS 5 today, there has been some debate at my organization of which OS version we should build for in future iOS apps, iOS 4 or iOS 5. Building to accommodate multiple OS versions is more time consuming which translates to greater costs, and is not always an option. In general, we lean towards the safe side and build to accommodate more users by building for an older OS. However, this also limits what new APIs we make use of in development.
Geotagging photos on your iOS device or desktop computer
By Werner Ruotsalainen
As has been mentioned some weeks ago, it's pretty easy to record GPS information and, later, incorporate it into photos taken on a non-GPS-enabled camera.
Unfortunately, the current camera lineup doesn't really please people that would like to geotag their shots. Neither the, because of the high price-value ratio or high image quality (IQ), most popular point-and-shoot (P&S) or DSLR (including mirrorless [aka EVIL] or some lower-end [Sony] SLT) cameras have built-in GPS modules.
Some examples of the current, most popular cameras lacking any GPS support:

Me and Steve Jobs
By Todd Bernhard
With the passing of my personal hero Steve Jobs, I have to take a moment to reflect upon how I got here and the role Apple and Steve Jobs played in my life. As Yogi Berra said, when you see a fork in the road, TAKE IT! There are many twists and turns that led each of us to the path we are on today so indulge me as I reflect on my path. ONE MORE THING... Sign your organ donor card. We had a few extra years of Steve Jobs thanks to the selflessness of a 20 year old.
