iCloud is a great way to store files, photos, and back-ups; however, you only get 5 GB of free iCloud Storage for your drive. Luckily, the next step up is 50 GB and costs only $0.99 a month. You might want more storage if you use iCloud Drive a lot for storing, editing, and transferring documents between devices. If you decide to buy extra storage or want to downgrade the amount of storage you're currently paying for, here’s how.
Sign up to iPhone Life's Tip of the Day Newsletter and we'll send you a tip each day to save time and get the most out of your iPhone or iPad.
Open the Settings app. Tap iCloud. You'll be prompted to enter your Apple ID password.
Tap Storage. Select Change Storage Plan.
Your Current Plan will be at the top. Under Choose Upgrade, you can select whichever amount of storage you need. Once you’ve selected a plan, tap Buy in the upper, right corner. Enter your Apple ID and tap OK. The price will be charged to the credit card associated with your account and will automatically renew each month.
To downgrade or cancel the service, select Downgrade Options as the bottom of the page. It will ask for your Apple ID password again. Select a downgrade plan or the Free plan. Tap Done.
If you have more stored on your iCloud Drive than your downgraded plan will allow, make sure to free up the necessary space before your iCloud Storage Plan expires. You can do this by Managing Storage from the iCloud settings.
