For those who have an iPhone with 3D Touch, selecting text for editing has never been easier. With 3D Touch, you can turn your keyboard into a trackpad in most Apple apps and use your finger to highlight the words you need to edit. This is extremely convenient, since your finger can often get in the way when trying to precisely move the cursor. Here’s how to quickly select and edit text with 3D Touch on iPhone.

How to Quickly Select & Edit Text with 3D Touch

  • Firmly press on the keyboard to turn it into a trackpad.
  • Slide your finger around the trackpad to move the cursor where you want it.

  • Press harder to select the text and then slide your finger along the words to increase your selection.

  • Press hard a second time if you want to start over.
  • Lift your finger when you’re finished.
  • Tap the selection to bring up the editing options menu.
