Updated for 2018: How to Use AirPlay, or Screen Mirroring, on iPhone

In addition to using AirPlay from your iPhone, you can also stream music and videos from your iPad or iPod Touch to Apple TV, HomePod, or other AirPlay-enabled devices. For this to work, you'll need to make sure your iOS device and Apple TV or AirPlay-enabled device are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. If they aren't on the same Wi-Fi network, you can still use AirPlay; the Apple TV you're attempting to connect to will display a code to enter into your iPhone. To begin:

  • From the Home Screen, swipe down from the upper-right corner of your screen to open Control Center if you have an iPhone X, and up from the bottom of your screen if you have an iPhone 8 or earlier iPhone version.

  • Once Control Center is open, tap Screen Mirroring.
  • Tap the name of the device you want to connect to.

Now, just open your photos app and show off those pics on the big screen! Or play a video, watch a movie, or listen to Spotify on the HomePod.
