How to Adjust the Brightness of your iPhone Screen

* This post is part of iPhone Life's Tip of the Day newsletter. . *

Depending on where you are, what time of day it is, and how you’re using our iPhone, you may want to adjust the brightness of your iPhone screen. Late at night you may want the screen to be dimmed as you prepare for bed, but during the day you probably want full brightness, especially when watching videos. There are two ways to adjust your screen’s brightness. You can access it through the Settings app or in Control Center.

The quickest way to adjust your screen’s brightness is to open Control Center by swiping up from the bottom of the iPhone's screen. Along with functions such as Airplane mode, Flashlight, and Calculator, Control Center also includes a sliding bar for brightness. The second bar on the screen has two suns on either end of a spectrum, allowing you to easily adjust screen brightness whenever you need.

You can also adjust your screen’s brightness by opening your Settings app. Tap Display & Brightness. The first bar is labeled Brightness; you can slide the circle to find the brightness you like. There’s also an option to turn on Auto-Brightness which adjusts the screen automatically for optimal viewing depending on the ambient lighting.
