How to Check Which iOS Version You're Running on Your iPhone

Being able to check which iOS version you're running is an important skill to have. Many apps and programs won't run if an iOS is too out of date, and if you're running into general bugs or glitches on your phone, being able to find your iOS version will greatly help with troubleshooting, such as finding out if you need an update. It's also something you'll need to know when you're getting help over the phone, so you don't have to face that terrible moment where you ask yourself, what is my operating system? Here are two easy ways to find out which OS you are running.

Find Your iOS Version in Settings

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap General.

  3. Tap About.
  4. You will see your software version listed in the menu.

This menu will also show you your phone's name, model name, model number, and serial number, all of which can be useful when getting remote help.

Ask Siri Which Verion of iOS Your iPhone Is Running

Siri can tell you just about anything you want to know about your phone. Simply say something like, "Hey Siri, what iOS do I have?" or "Hey Siri, what iOS am I running?" and she will tell you. This option will require separate inquiries for each thing you want to know, so if you have a whole list of info about your phone that you're looking for, it can be time consuming, but if you just need to know the one thing, you can get the info without even unlocking your phone.

These two options not only allow you to get the information you need, but also empower you to explore what your phone has to offer, and see if you might be in for an update.
