I don’t know how or why it started, I just want it to stop. The past couple months, I’ve started to receive notifications about random friends’ activity on Facebook. It says something like, “Brenda posted a picture,” to which I’m scratching my head wondering, “and why do I care what Brenda who I knew in 5th grade and haven’t seen since did?” Apparently, I’m not the only one suddenly receiving notifications from random friends. So let’s figure out how to stop this! Here’s how to stop receiving notifications from random friends on Facebook.

How to Stop Receiving Notifications from Random Friends on Facebook

Use this part of the tip to stop receiving notifications from some of your friends. Skip to the second part to turn off getting Close Friends' activity altogether.

  • Open the Facebook app on your iPhone, and go to the profile of the friend you don’t want to receive notifications for.

  • Tap on Friend.

  • Tap Edit Friend Lists.

  • Select Acquaintances.

  • Tap Done.

How to Stop Receiving Notifications from ALL Random Friends on Facebook

  • Open the Facebook app on your iPhone.

  • Tap the icon in the lower right corner that looks like three horizontal lines.

  • Scroll down to the bottom and select Settings.

  • Tap Account Settings.

  • Select Notifications.

  • Choose Close Friends activity.

  • Uncheck Get notifications.
