How to Add a Name to the People Album in Photos on iPhone

The Photos app got a lot of small upgrades with iOS 10, including the addition of a People album. The app looks through your photos for similar faces, then groups them together so that if you’re looking for images of a specific person, you can easily find them. However, this will only work if you assign a name to that group of photos. Otherwise, how will the Photos app know who Jaime is when you’re looking for his dorky photos? Here’s how to add a name to the People album in Photos on iPhone.

How to Add a Name to the People Album in Photos on iPhone

  • Open the Photos app and tap Albums at the bottom right of the screen.

  • Find and select the People album.

  • Tap on the person you want to add a name for. Select Add Name at the top.

  • Type their name. If they are in your contacts, their contact card will pop up. Tap on it.

Now, that person in your People album has a name, which means when you search your Photos app for pictures of Jaime, it will know whose face to look for.
