How to Customize Workouts on the Apple Watch

When you don't want to be stuck doing the same Apple Watch workouts all the time, you can add custom workouts instead.

Apple Watch users tend to love the Workout app for its variety, but how do you add a custom workout to your Apple Watch, or add more workout types to the available workout options when you don't see the type you are looking for? How to Add New Workout Types on the Apple Watch

Do you want a workout that's not readily available on the list of options in the Workout app on your Apple Watch? There's a simple watch-based solution that will allow you to customize workout options and change them whenever the mood strikes! Follow these steps to add variety to your Apple Watch workout options:

  1. On your Apple Watch, open the Workout app.

    Open the Apple Watch Workout app
  2. Scroll all the way to the bottom of the list of workout types.
  3. Tap Add Workout.

    Scroll all the way down and select Add Workout
  4. Scroll through the list and tap on the workout type to add it.

    Scroll through the workout options and tap on the one you want to add
  5. You will be taken back to the list of workouts, where you'll see the workout you just added.

    You will see your new workout type added to your list

Now this new workout will be in your list of workout types whenever you want it! Please note, though, that if you don't find the workout type you want to add, you'll need to use the Other option each time you do that kind of workout.

How to Remove Unused Workout Types from Your Apple Watch

If you don't use certain workout options, it's a pain to have to scroll through them when you're searching for the workout type that you do want to use. Here's how to delete workouts from your list in the Workout app on your Apple Watch.

  1. On your Apple Watch, open the Workout app.

    Open the Apple Watch Workout app
  2. Swipe left on the workout.

    Swipe left on the workout type you want to delete
  3. Tap the red X icon to delete the workout.

    Tap the X icon to delete the workout type
