I find this to be the easiest and most convenient way of adding friends on Spotify. By linking your Facebook account, Spotify can check your friends list and show you those that have a Spotify profile as well. Here's how to follow someone on Spotify by linking your Facebook account and following them:

1. Open the Spotify app and tap the Settings icon in the upper-right corner.
   
   
2. Tap your profile icon at the top of the screen.
   
   
3. Tap the More icon in the upper-right corner.
   
   
4. Tap Find Friends.
   
   
5. Tap Connect to Facebook.
   
   
6. Tap Continue to give Spotify permission to access your Facebook app.
   
   
7. Enter your Facebook username and password and tap Log in. 
   
   
8. Now when you return to the Spotify app, tap the More icon and Find Friends to view a list of your Facebook friends who also use Spotify. Tap the Follow icon next to a profile to friend that person.

However, with this method, you will likely want to verify the profile belongs to your friend before following it, as their Spotify username will be displayed. Here's how to add friends on Spotify by searching for their profile: 

1. Open the Spotify app and tap Search.
   
   
2. Tap the search bar and type your friend’s name.
   
   
3. Tap the profile that matches. For this example, we're using the Majestic Casual Spotify profile.
   
   
4. Tap Follow.
   
   
5. You will now be able to see this friend’s activity and find out more about what they’ve been listening to. If you change your mind and want to unfollow a profile, tap Following.
