Apple has just unveiled the Apple Watch Series 6, an iPad (8th generation) and a new iPad Air. New iPhones are expected to be announced later this fall. But whether or not you’re planning to upgrade to any of the new devices Apple announced during its September 15 event, you’ll still want to update your existing Apple devices and start enjoying all the newest features of iOS 14, iPadOS 14, and watchOS 7 as soon as possible. Here's which iPhones are compatible with iOS 14, which Apple Watches can run watchOS 7, and which iPads can run iPadOS 14 and when you can download the new software.

iOS 14 Will Be Available September 16

Are you ready for using the App Library and Widgets to organize your apps, pinning important conversations and muting group texts, enjoying greater security as you browse the web, and all the other cool new iOS 14 features? Apple will make its latest version of iOS available for download on September 16.

Which iPhones Are Compatible with iOS 14?

All iPhones that are compatible with iOS 13 can run iOS 14:

  • The new iPhones will ship with iOS 14 pre-installed. 
  • The iPhone 11, 11 Pro, XS, XR, X, 8, 7, 6s, SE (1st and 2nd gen), iPod touch (7th gen)

iPadOS14

iPadOS 14 Will Be Available September 16

Are you ready to convert handwriting to text, use dropdown menus, enjoy even better AR, and more? The new iPad operating system will be available for download on September 16.

Which iPads Are Compatible with iPadOS 14?

  • The new iPadOS will come pre-installed on the new iPad (8th generation) and the new iPad Air 
  • Owners of the Pad Air 2 and later, all iPad Pro models, iPad 5th generation and later, and iPad mini 4 and later will be able to update to iPadOS 14

watchOS 7

watchOS 7 Will Be Available September 16

Are you excited about creating your own watch faces, tracking your sleep, and always washing your hands for at least 20 seconds? The newest version of watchOS will be available on September 16.

Which Apple Watches Can Run watchOS 7?

The new watchOS will come pre-installed on the Apple Watch Series 6 and be available for installation on the Apple Watch Series 3 and later on September 16.
