How to Change the Default Ringtone on Your iPhone

Your ringtone on the iPhone lets you know when you have an incoming call or text. Here’s how to change your default ringtone on an iPhone. Since you’re likely to hear the sound often, it’s nice to choose one you like. You can choose to use a ringtone that Apple has built-in or use ringtones you’ve purchased within the iTunes Store on your iPhone.

How to Change Your Default Ringtone on the iPhone

  1. Open the Settings app and select Sounds & Haptics.

  2. Under Sounds and Vibration Patterns, tap Ringtone. 

  3. Tap Tone Store to purchase ringtones; any ringtones you buy or have already bought will be near the top under Ringtones. Below that, you’ll see all of the Apple provided ringtones. 

  4. Tap on a ringtone to hear it.​

  5. Once you’ve select one you like, tap the back button.

  6. From the Sounds & Haptics screen, you can change other tones for texts, email, and other notifications.

There are several provided tones and thousands you can purchase from the store, so have fun customizing!
