To get your iPhone to go into StandBy mode, you need to lock it, plug it in to charge, and have it sit horizontally at a slight angle. Your phone’s display should immediately change to the new iPhone StandBy mode. Once StandBy mode is on, you can customize it by swiping left and right to change the display layout, swiping up and down to change the style, and long-press to edit the widgets or other StandBy Mode settings. Troubleshooting StandBy Mode Not Working on iPhone

If you can’t get StandBy mode to work, you’re not alone. It can take a while to get the settings right and figure out how to get the feature to work correctly. Here’s what to do if you experience StandBy Mode not working:

  1. Make sure StandBy mode is toggled on by opening Settings.

Knock-off chargers or the wrong angle can prevent StandBy from turning on.

  8. The next thing to try is to turn off Lock Orientation. Even though StandBy mode should work with Lock Orientation on, some users find that turning the lock off temporarily makes StandBy mode work.
