App Review - The Dream by Swipea

image

The dream is a children's story about the main character named Ahmad and his adventure.  The book can be either read by kids, or the app will read it to the children making it a fun app for kids from about age two through twelve.  In addition to the story this app includes a 'fact find' section where you can tap on highlighted words while reading the story to learn some fun facts such as what different words mean.  There is also a 'happy bazzar' which is a place to find related apps quickly and easily.  There are several related apps to choose from and with a quick tap you'll be taken right to the app store.

Review: Fibble HD by Crytek

image

It’s the same old story – alien ship gets hit, and despite their always advanced technology they end up helplessly careening into the earth.  Much like another physics puzzler called Marbians you end up in a suburban home and find out that humans are much bigger than you are.  You must find all your friends and ultimately flee your gigantic surroundings.  The atmosphere is cute but the levels can be quite challenging, so feel free to take the game for a spin even if you are a “macho” adult.  So far I haven’t been disappointed.

Verizon to Charge $30 Upgrade Fee Starting April 22nd... Really?

image

Oh great… Here we go again. Looks like Verizon is retaliating against the backlash they received a while back for attempting to charge a $2 online bill pay convenience fee.

Now it appears that starting April 22nd, we will have to pay an extra $30 on top of the phone price to upgrade. Man… I thought I was with the “cool” carrier this whole time. I guess they're just joining everyone else.

Currently Sprint and AT&T have fees associated to their upgrades. But honestly, the reasoning Verizon has for the new upgrade fee is completely ridiculous:

Review: Arkon Mobile Grip Mini Fold-Up Smartphone Tripod (Model MG600)

image

The Mobile Grip Mini Fold-up Tripod from Arkon is a neat accessory to carry with you, especially if you use the camera function on your device a lot. This is a universal design so it should fit most smartphones, as well as an iPod Touch and similar devices that sport a camera. With the exception of the adjusting screws, the kit is all plastic which is one of the reasons it's so light. Check out the video from Arkon below for actual use of the stand.

The stand consists of three pieces. The tripod mount, mobile grip adaptor, and mobile grip holder.

iPad supplies constrained, demand high; Speculation on 4-inch iPhone

image

According to AppleInsider, market research firm Gartner is projecting that Apple will sell 73 million iPads in 2012, accounting for 61.4% of the tablet market. That's about 1.4 million iPads per week. Apparently some manufacturers are simply ceding the territory to Apple for the time being, until Windows 8 arrives, Microsoft's new operating system that will run on both tablets and PCs.

Apple market valuation hits $600 billion -- is it sustainable?

image

Despite one recent contrarian, almost all market analysts expect Apple's stock to just keep rising into the stratosphere. Today the company's market value briefly hit $600 billion, with their stock trading at 644 before falling back to around 630 at midday. Only one other company has ever broached $600 billion mark: Microsoft reached that lofty figure for 13 trading days at the height of the dotcom boom. Today its valuation is $260 billion. And there seems to be no end in sight for Apple's soaring stock, with the iPhone 4S still selling well and poised to make dramatic gains abroad, especially in China.

Everything iPhone - Apps, Accessories, Reviews, Wallpapers etc | iPhone Life Magazine

The iPhone has become a benchmark for all other smartphones to compete with.  Reviews on the cases, accessories, apps, wallpapers and more are located below.  Here are a couple of Articles that showcase what we have to offer.  For eaxample, iPhone 4S by Alex Cequea (iPhone Life Magazine Editor in Chief).

In that article, Alex says that the iPhone 4S has the exact same physical form factor as the iPhone 4. However, the insides are a whole different story, and Apple tried to make that very clear. The most notable improvements are the 8MP camera with 1080p video recording, the A5 dual-core processor (same as the iPad 2), and an improved battery life (8 hours of 3G talk time, 200 hours of standby). As far as the capabilities, the new Siri Assistant feature was the highlight of the show. The Siri Assistant recognizes natural language and can answer questions such as, "What's the temperature out today?" Combined with the phone's GPS, you can say something like, "Remind me to call my wife when I get to work." The Assistant will not only know who your "wife" is, it'll also know where "work" is and pop up a reminder to "call Marcy" when you get there."

Here's another great article, The Best iPhone 4 Cases. This article goes on to explain that like its iPhone predecessors, cases have become one of the most popular ways to accessorize your cell phone. Most cell phone consumers buy a case bundled with their new phone to protect it from day one. And who can blame them? Mobile devices have become hugely valuable and expensive items; you want to protect them the best way you can. There are literally hundreds of cases on the market. Let's examine the different options available on the market to help you choose the one that's right for you.

What to know how to create your own app?  "The first step in creating an app is to understand what you want to create and how you will measure its success. Make sure the idea is well vetted and there is a solid business case behind it. There are roughly 600 new apps submitted to Apple each day—what is going to differentiate your app from the thousands that are already available and being launched each week? Here are some questions you’ll want to ask when getting your app idea..."
