The research firm International Data Corp reported yesterday that the tablet market continues to soar, with worldwide shipments this year expected to be 107 million, and next year 143 million. And the iPad's share of the market is expected to be 62.5% this year, which is an increase over last year's 58.2%. So what about the Kindle Fire and the vaunted Android competition? They're actually losing market share, rather than making the gains predicted earlier.

First up in the series, I'd like to introduce you to a relatively new product on the market: the Verbatim Mobile Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard.
On Monday at WWDC Apple gave a detailed demo of 10 of the 200 new features of iOS 6. If you're curious what the other 190 might be, check out iMore's "Big list of iOS 6 features." They've gathered a list of 150 (and counting), organized by category. Many of the items in the list are linked to more detailed information elsewhere. The list includes new features for developers. This is a great at-a-glance resource for getting a good idea of what's coming this fall.
With the launch of the new iPad (aka iPad 3), comes more cool cases and accessories. Speck (maker of my favorite Candyshell case) just came out with a full line of new iPad 3 (compatible with iPad 2) cases. Below are pictures of them with links to their product pages. Thanks to Speck, I got to send most of these cases into my local wild where other iPad users will be using them. In the coming weeks, I will share some of the mini reviews by these people that used these cases.
Could this new game, Guess Your Songs, be the next social gaming phenomena? It's hard to predict the course of evolution of a new social game, or what will trigger a game's accelerated rise to stardom, but if the success pattern of such hit social games like Draw Something, Words With Friend and Scramble are any indication, then Guess Your Songs sits in a prime position to become a HUGE hit!
The keynote on Monday covered 10 new features of iOS 6, but those are, of course, just a small fraction of the 200 new features that this update will offer. A blog post on Gizmodo has collected 10 (and counting) of the coolest new features that weren't mentioned on Monday, and the blog comments are highlighting even more. If you use the Clock app as an alarm, with iOS 6 you'll be able to select any song on your iPhone or iPad to serve as the alarm. In addition, the iPad has a new Clock app.
Apple has posted a video of the full keynote from yesterday's Worldwide Developers Conference. It covers new Mac models, the forthcoming Mountain Lion operating system, and iOS 6 — nearly two hours in all. If nothing else, just watch Siri's standup comedy routine that takes up the first couple minutes of the keynote. If your interest is the iPhone and iPad, you can jump ahead to 68.50, when Scott Forstall comes on stage to talk about iOS 6. It's worth watching, especially the Flyover feature of the new Maps apps, which is demoed at 104.10 minutes into the video. This feature lets you zoom over a 3-D cityscape.
In a presenation filled with detail, Apple introduced iOS 6 today, with 200 new features. It will be available this fall for the iPhone 3GS and later, the iPad 2 and 3, and the fourth generation iPod touch. Ten of the new features were demoed, and they all look pretty exciting. The changes to Siri seem the most remarkable. You can now ask Siri specific questions related to sports (scores, stats, standings, etc.), restaurants (nearby restaurants, maps, hours, prices, reviews -- even make reservations), and movies (reviews, locations and times -- and even view the trailer right within Siri).

What's bigger than an iPhone, smaller than a MacBook, and the most anticipated Apple product since the original iPhone? On January 27, at a special invitation only event at the San Francisco's Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, Steve Jobs announced Apple's new "magical, revolutionary product" -- the iPad. Meant to fill the gap between the laptop and phone, Jobs said it was "way better" than either. Let's take a look at it.
Thin, lightweight, and powerful
The iPad shares many hardware features with the iPhone, including an accelerometer, an orientation sensor to switch from portrait to landscape mode, solid-state memory, and the same 30-pin doc connector. Connectivity is also virtually the same, with wireless 802.11n WiFi and Bluetooth 2.1 EDR included on all models.
iPad runs iPhone apps!
The iPad will run a version of iPhone OS, and the new device can run virtually any app developed for the iPhone or iPod touch. Aps developed for the iPhone can run on the iPad in native resolution but is large enough to touch type on.
The larger screen not only makes familiar iPhone apps like Calendar, Mail, and Safari look stunning, it also provides screen real estate for more complex elements in the UI. For example, Calendar display a split-sreen view that describes the day's appointments on the left and shows you a color map of used time slots on the right. The split-screen view in Contacts displays you contacts list on the left and the full information for the contact you've selected on the right.
An ebook reader and more
Although not build into the iPad, Apple will offer a free app called iBooks, which will allow you to download and read books from it's new virtual bookstore. The new iBooks store will be accessed from and as easy to use as iTunes.
The ultimate media device?
The iPad is not the world's first tablet PC or the first eBook reader. Toshiba, Lenovo, Acer, and others sell Windows-based tablets, and Amazon has had considerable success with it's Kindle. But Apple thinks the iPad will reinvent the category by offering a vastly superior multi-touch interface an easy access to a wide-variety of apps and media via iTunes. Aple hopes to make the iPad the ultimate media device by leveraging it's existing assets which include over 100 million paying iTunes customers, established relationships with music and video content providers, and over 100,000 iPhone OS app developers.
