Review: iBolt's Flexible Mounting Stand for Streaming & Video Recording

I often create videos and sometimes those videos need to show how to use an app. I could use the iPhone or iPad's screen recording capabilities, but that doesn't show finger touches, etc. Alternatively, I could try to hold one iPhone in my left hand while recording my right hand using an iPad. Or jury-rig some kind of contraption using duct tape. Fortunately, iBOLT send me its Stream-Cast Stand ($79.95).

The Stream-Cast is like a tripod for your smartphone, as it has an adjustable clamp at the end to accommodate phones as wide as 2.25-inches to 3.75-inches, but it is also infinitely adjustable thanks to a gooseneck arm and modular design. You can loosen and tighten it as needed for a ton of flexibility. You can face the phone straight down to use for overhead recording or streaming, or you can face forward to record yourself or an activity.

iBolt offers both weighted stand or table clamp models. I tried the three-pound weighted stand model and found it to be quite solid and secure and still reasonably priced. I would have liked to see a built-in bubble indicator to ensure the mount is level but, as they say, there's an app for that!

Pros

  • Infinitely adjustable
  • Use for overhead or forward facing or anything in between
  • Available in three-pound weighted stand or table clamp models
  • Solid and secure
  • Reasonably priced

Cons

  • No bubble level

Final Verdict

If you are a vlogger or educator and need to hold a smartphone steady in a variety of positions, try the Stream-Cast Stand from iBOLT and give your hands a rest!
