Genius idea - iKit docks while in the case!

image

You know what I like about this case besides the fact that it looks cool? I like that you can remove the bottom of the case for quick and easy docking without having to remove the whole case. What a genius idea! More manufacturers should do this!

GuitarToolkit Review

image

I love playing guitar, whether for people at parties or in the quiet solitude of my home. I also enjoy learning new pieces, whether from traditional sheet music or from the wide range of guitar tabs available on the Internet (most of which are not that good). Yet after years of playing, I still occasionally come across a weird chord that I haven't played in ages.  Like many students of the instrument, I learned a majority of chords from Mel Bay guitar chord books. The drawback of these books is that there is no sound accompanying the strum, so it is hit or miss whether your fret fingering is correct. However, with the release of portable music apps like Agile Partners' GuitarToolkit, chord formation and sound are no longer a mystery.

Verizon iPhone for sale beginning today for current customers

image

The Verizon iPhone went on sale today to current customers, and will be available to everyone else on February 10. According to Apple Insider, Verizon is expecting heavy demand and asked its employees to hold off on getting one to make sure there would be enough for customers. Since the phone is basically the same as AT&T's iPhone 4, the early reviews mostly focus one thing: no dropped calls.

Review: SGP Stylus Pen Kuel H10 Series

SGP offers a stylus called the Kuel H10 Series. This is designed for the capacitive touch screen. The features listed below from their site give a lot of details on this product already, so I’m not going to just repeat them.

Apple Accounts for 50 Percent of the Smartphone Market Profits!

In the fourth quarter of 2010, Apple was able to claim over 50 percent of the smartphone industry's profits and 20 percent of the overall revenue despite only controlling 4 percent of the global market share!

With only a small market share percentage Apple has been able to realize such outrageous profit numbers because of high-priced units with large profit margins. This is probably not the best news for iPhone customers who are shelling out the premium prices for the Apple smartphone, but the Northern California consumer electronics company sure knows what they are doing.

This analysis came from Asymco who compiled the data based on reports from the top 8 smartphone producers: Apple, HTC, LG, Motorola, Nokia, Research in Motion, Samsung, and Sony Ericsson.

#macworld2011 -- overview of cool products from TidBITS includes Movie Stiller

image

TidBITS has a good overview of the Macworld Expo and the coolest products, a number of them related to iOS. They highlight Movie Stiller, which I missed at the show and which sounds like an essential app if you use your phone for shooting video. If you have a shaky hand (and it's almost impossible to hold a camera still without a tripod), Movie Stiller can take any movie in your iPhone library and apply image stabilization to it.

Review: Shinobi III by SEGA

image

I remember playing the Shinobi games on both my Genesis and Game Gear when I was a kid, and I remember them being tough.  However, I also remember them being lots of fun.  I guess I enjoyed my games being a bit punishing in those days.  When I heard they were bringing a Shinobi out for the iPhone I was quite excited, though I was a bit disappointed that it was part 3 instead of Revenge Of Shinobi, which is by far my favorite.  After spending some time with Shinobi III, though, I’m really enjoying it.  The game play actually holds up quite well for a game that’s almost 20 years old, and I’d say this is definitely one of SEGA’s strongest emulated games to date.

Do You Recycle?

image

I believe in recycling and I try to recycle and/or reuse wherever and whenever possible. It's an action and responsibility to help the planet that I have control over, and to be honest, it's not all that difficult to do. Sometimes there are items that I know need to be recycled but I have no idea where to bring them to. I found a Free app that I am trying out that helps. It's called My Recycle List. It's designed for the smaller screen but I am using it on my iPad.

Basically, you choose your item that you want to recycle and it will tell you where you can bring it that is near you.

Everything iPhone - Apps, Accessories, Reviews, Wallpapers etc | iPhone Life Magazine

The iPhone has become a benchmark for all other smartphones to compete with.  Reviews on the cases, accessories, apps, wallpapers and more are located below.  Here are a couple of Articles that showcase what we have to offer.  For eaxample, iPhone 4S by Alex Cequea (iPhone Life Magazine Editor in Chief).

In that article, Alex says that the iPhone 4S has the exact same physical form factor as the iPhone 4. However, the insides are a whole different story, and Apple tried to make that very clear. The most notable improvements are the 8MP camera with 1080p video recording, the A5 dual-core processor (same as the iPad 2), and an improved battery life (8 hours of 3G talk time, 200 hours of standby). As far as the capabilities, the new Siri Assistant feature was the highlight of the show. The Siri Assistant recognizes natural language and can answer questions such as, "What's the temperature out today?" Combined with the phone's GPS, you can say something like, "Remind me to call my wife when I get to work." The Assistant will not only know who your "wife" is, it'll also know where "work" is and pop up a reminder to "call Marcy" when you get there."

Here's another great article, The Best iPhone 4 Cases. This article goes on to explain that like its iPhone predecessors, cases have become one of the most popular ways to accessorize your cell phone. Most cell phone consumers buy a case bundled with their new phone to protect it from day one. And who can blame them? Mobile devices have become hugely valuable and expensive items; you want to protect them the best way you can. There are literally hundreds of cases on the market. Let's examine the different options available on the market to help you choose the one that's right for you.

What to know how to create your own app?  "The first step in creating an app is to understand what you want to create and how you will measure its success. Make sure the idea is well vetted and there is a solid business case behind it. There are roughly 600 new apps submitted to Apple each day—what is going to differentiate your app from the thousands that are already available and being launched each week? Here are some questions you’ll want to ask when getting your app idea..."
