How to Get Publicity for Your Product

 (Last updated June 27, 2009)

We at iPhone Life Appreciate your Effort and Marketing Challenge

We appreciate the time and commitment required to make useful iPhone / iPod touch software and accessories. We understand the challenges associated with marketing them, given the many products in the market. What follows is a summary of formal and informal ways product information and articles get published in our magazine, on our Web site, and in our e-mail newsletters.

Press Releases and Product Info

You may send us product descriptions or press releases at iphone-pressatiphonelife [dot] com.The E-mail will be sent to Publisher and Exec Editor, Hal Goldstein; Managing Editor, Rich Hall; Chief Blogger and Best Sites Editor, Jim Karpen; Advertising Rep, Marge Enright (margeatthaddeus [dot] com); Enterprise Editor, Nathan Clevenger.

How the magazine creates its content

IMPORTANT: Most of the content for the magazine and web site comes from end-users -- our readers and a team of volunteer iPhone expert writers and bloggers. Our internal staff editors, Hal Goldstein and Rich Hall, see their primary function as soliciting (Hal) and editing (Rich) submitted content. Nathan Clevenger solicits and does the initial edit on professional and enterprise related stories. Each issue evolves organically, based on article submission ideas from end-users and our regular volunteer experts. We do try to create a balance in the sections of the magazine: iPhone/iPod touch hardware; Tips; iTunes, Accessories, Software, Web, Work, People, with special emphasis on Software, Accessories, and Work.

Article Submission

Any iPhone or iPod touch user is welcome to submit an article idea. See writer's guidelines. However, years of experience has taught us that seldom can someone from within a company create an objective, reader-oriented article involving the company's product. At the same time, developer and vendor companies contain a lot of iPhone expertise. We are always open for article ideas reflecting that expertise, and the bio can plug a company and its products.

Our Writers and Bloggers

The best way to get editorial coverage is to interest one of our volunteer writers or bloggers to write about your product. You can view the contributors to our premier issue, Spring 2009 and Summer 2009 issues with their contact information. A number of them will be writing or blogging for us in the future.

Our current list of bloggers, many of whom also submit articles for the magazine, are:

Why Advertising may make Sense

Naturally, we want the editorial of the magazine to contain as many useful and fun pieces of software, services and accessories as possible. However, pages are limited, and at this time, we come out only four issues per year. Therefore, if you want the ongoing publicity your product deserves, we strongly recommend you consider advertising. For smaller developers we recommend our "in the Spotlight" section for as little as $199, where at your request, we'll create the ad for you at no charge.

When you advertise, you control your message and you guarantee placement in the issue. You get the prestige of print plus your product becomes part of our digital issue given away free and readable on a desktop or an iPhone.  Rates will never be so affordable.

2009 Schedule

The four 2009 issues will be mailed to subscribers and newsstands on the following dates:

Spring '09: March 23;

Summer '09: June 23;

Fall '09: Sept 4;

Winter  '10: Nov 27

We normally close editorial each issue around 6 weeks prior to that date.
