How to Separate Audio from Video on iPhone (Third-Party App)

While the Photos app makes it easy to remove the audio from a video, it's more complicated to create an audio-only file. While I love the Photos app for it's many editing and organization features, I've found it much simpler (and faster) to download and use the third-party MP3 Converter app. (This app offers a paid option, but the audio extractor feature is available with the free version.) Here's how to extract audio from a video using the MP3 Converter app.

  1. To extract the audio from your video, open the MP3 Converter app.

On the Home screen, tap to open the MP3 Converter app.
  2. Tap the purple plus icon at the bottom of your screen.

Tap the big purple (+) button on the bottom of the screen.
  3. Tap the appropriate option to navigate to your video file. My video is saved in my Photos app, so I'll select Import From Camera Roll

Tap the appropriate option for where your video file is located. For this example I will use a file from Camera Roll.
  4. Tap to select at least one video that you want to extract the audio from.
