Apple is the Leader in Mobile App Store Revenue

A recent report from CNET says according to the data from IHS, Apple is holding the top rank among other smartphones in app store revenue worldwide. Apple just feeling the heat in the smartphone market with a heavy competition just managed their top position this year too.

"In terms of mobile application stores, Apple remains far ahead of the competition, with the other stores so far unable to replicate Apple's success in generating revenue from users," Jack Kent, an IHS mobile media analyst, said in a statement. "Apple, in contrast, has been able to maintain advantage by leveraging its tightly controlled ecosystem--combining compelling hardware and content with the capability to offer consumers a trusted, integrated, and simple billing service via iTunes."

Mobile App Store Revenue

Apple earns $1782 Million in the year if 2011 from the app store where previous was $769 Million. Of course the launch of iPad makes better revenue for the company where the iPad apps gained more than the iPhone apps on average.

But the interesting factor I have noted the emergence of Android market revenue. Apple just lost their momentum in the market share comparing g to last year. Interesting factor is Google’s Android, RIM’s BlackBerry app world and Nokia’s OVI store sees high spikes in their year over year growth which can obviously make the smartphone market race hot in future.
