How do I silence an incoming call?
Sometimes your phone rings when you don't want it too—at a movie theater or lecture hall—and you end up embarrassed. If your Silent/Ring switch on the iPhone's left side panel is turned on and you get a call at a bad time, you can quickly silence the incoming call in one of two ways.
- Press the Sleep/Wake button at the top of your iPhone.
- Press either of the Volume buttons.
The caller will still hear 4 rings on their end before the call goes to voicemail. This means you still have time to step out and answer the call if you wish. (To find out how to send the call directly to voice mail, see below.)May-June 2011Phone32
