Your device lets you access all of your e-mail accounts, allowing you to send and receive messages wherever you are. There are several ways to add an e-mail account to your device. The easiest is to work with one of the five default e-mail services that your device recognizes automatically. Here's how to add one of these accounts:
- Open Settings> Mail, Contacts, Calendars> Add Account.
- Tap on the service you use (Microsoft Exchange, MobileMe, Gmail, Yahoo, or AOL).
- Type in your Name, Email Address, Password, and enter a description such as "Work Email" or "My Gmail Account."
You can add an e-mail account from one of the five default services with ease.
Your device will verify the account and take you to a screen where you can turn the parts of the account you want to connect to on or off. For example, after adding my Yahoo account, I had the option to turn Yahoo Mail and Yahoo Calendar on (to show up on my device) or off.

f you're adding an account that isn't one of the five your device recognizes automatically, you'll need to take slightly different steps that require more technical information about the account:
Add other e-mail accounts to your device.
- Open Settings> Mail, Contacts, Calendars> Add Account.
- Tap Other and then Add Mail Account.
- Type in your Name, account Address, Password, and Description. When finished, tap Next.
- Tap in the type of account you're adding: IMAP or POP. (Contact your network administrator if you don't have this information. They should be able to give you everything you need to set up the account.)
- Enter the Host Name of your provider's incoming mail server in the Incoming Mail Server section; also enter you Username and Password.
- Enter the Host Name of your provider's outgoing (SMTP) mail server in the Outgoing Mail Server section; also enter your Username and Password if your provider requires it.
- Tap on Save.
