The iPhone 6: World, Meet More

image

When Apple sent out their invitation to today’s event, they said simply: “We wish we could say more,” and included an enlarged Apple logo in the background. Although the choice of the word “more” could have been a cryptical reference to Steve Jobs’ iconic “One more thing” catch phrase, I couldn’t help but suspect that it was more likely a reference to the rumored and highly requested larger iPhone 6. Perhaps it was also alluding to the fact that Apple was planning to unveil a wider range of products on this day than ever before. After years of speculation, months of clues, and weeks of pondering cryptic hints, the day so many of us have been patiently waiting for has arrived. World, meet the new iPhone 6 series. “More” has arrived…

iPhone 6: Prices and Availability

image
As Apple wraps up the iPhone portion of today's media event, our final questions about the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus have been answered, namely how much will the new iPhones cost and when can we get our hands on them.

iPhone 6 is larger, faster, and thinner

image

Apple's new iPhone models were announced this morning. You'll soon be able to purchase the iPhone 6 (4.7 inch) and iPhone 6 Plus (5.5 inches). Both phones will feature a Retina HD display. The new iPhones will be thinner than any phone Apple has made.

The new iPhones will also offer new landscape options for the weather and messaging apps, and even a special landscape view for the home screen. The larger display in the new iPhone 6 Plus allows you to see even more content in both portrait and landscape mode.

What to Expect from Today's Apple Event

image

If you’ve been dreaming of a larger-screened iPhone or shiny new iWatch, Apple will finally answer your prayers during its annual iPhone event today. Apple announcements have become easy to predict in recent years, so much so that the New York Times has reported the arrival of two iPhone 6 models and the iWatch as a matter of certainty. However, some questions remain about the features of the new devices, and just as importantly, when they will be available.

Apple News: More of Everything

image

The key word in Apple's invitation to Tuesday's announcement was "more" and it appears Apple is making good on that, if the New York Times is to be believed. Instead of just one iPhone with more screen real estate (4.7 inches) we may indeed get two, with a 5.5-inch model expected as well. I've written that Apple could go with iPhone Air and iPhone Pro, but we will have to see what they announce.

Rumors: iWatch to Have 8GB Memory, Two Sizes; No Sapphire for iPhone 6; Gold Color for iPad Air

image
According to 9To5Mac, market analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has recently offered up a bunch of details about the iWatch, though it's hard to tell where inside information ends and speculation begins. He says that although we won't see an iWatch until 2015, Apple will be announcing it on Tuesday in order to encourage developers to create apps for it. And he believes it will come with 8 GB of storage and 512 MB RAM, as well as two different rectangular display sizes: 1.3 and 1.5 inches. He also suggests there will be a gold colored iWatch to match the gold colored iPhone 5s and iPhone 6. Of course he expects it to have a range of health and fitness sensors. I'm certainly hoping Apple announces it Tuesday.

Samsung Serves up a Supersized Screen with a Side Dish

image

Apple may be announcing their biggest iPhone yet, next week, but Samsung is determined to steal their thunder today by introducing the Galaxy Note Edge. Apple may announce a 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch model on Tuesday, but Samsung hopes to trump them both with a 5.6-inch Quad HD+ Super AMOLED display and a resolution of 2560x1440. What really sets the new Samsung apart is the screen overlaps the edge of the phone, thanks to flexible OLED technology, so you can see a small bit from the sides!

Purchasing an iPhone 6? Sell Your iPhone 5s for as Much as $394, iPhone 5 for $255

image

The resale value of earlier-generation iPhones remains high, with a wide variety of companies competing to give you the best price. A great article on MarketWatch gives a brief overview of the prices being offered. If you're willing to sell your phone in return for a gift card, Amazon may have the best deal, offering $394 for a 16GB iPhone 5s and $255 for an iPhone 5. If you want cash, Gazelle will give you up to $300 for your iPhone 5s, while both Gazelle and NextWorth offer $185 for your iPhone 5. Apple will give you a $255 gift card for an iPhone 5. WalMart also offers a pretty good deal: $275 for an iPhone 5s and $166 for an iPhone 5.

More… Battery Life? Bigger Battery on the Way

image

Apple's invitation for their September 9 event is brief but ends with the word "more." Obviously more can refer to the larger screen of the next iPhone, presumably 4.7-inch. But a 5.5-inch model has also been seen in the wild, and while it may not be as far along as the 4.7-inch model, iPhone lovers are hoping it will be announced next week along with its smaller brother.

Everything iPhone - Apps, Accessories, Reviews, Wallpapers etc | iPhone Life Magazine

The iPhone has become a benchmark for all other smartphones to compete with.  Reviews on the cases, accessories, apps, wallpapers and more are located below.  Here are a couple of Articles that showcase what we have to offer.  For eaxample, iPhone 4S by Alex Cequea (iPhone Life Magazine Editor in Chief).

In that article, Alex says that the iPhone 4S has the exact same physical form factor as the iPhone 4. However, the insides are a whole different story, and Apple tried to make that very clear. The most notable improvements are the 8MP camera with 1080p video recording, the A5 dual-core processor (same as the iPad 2), and an improved battery life (8 hours of 3G talk time, 200 hours of standby). As far as the capabilities, the new Siri Assistant feature was the highlight of the show. The Siri Assistant recognizes natural language and can answer questions such as, "What's the temperature out today?" Combined with the phone's GPS, you can say something like, "Remind me to call my wife when I get to work." The Assistant will not only know who your "wife" is, it'll also know where "work" is and pop up a reminder to "call Marcy" when you get there."

Here's another great article, The Best iPhone 4 Cases. This article goes on to explain that like its iPhone predecessors, cases have become one of the most popular ways to accessorize your cell phone. Most cell phone consumers buy a case bundled with their new phone to protect it from day one. And who can blame them? Mobile devices have become hugely valuable and expensive items; you want to protect them the best way you can. There are literally hundreds of cases on the market. Let's examine the different options available on the market to help you choose the one that's right for you.

What to know how to create your own app?  "The first step in creating an app is to understand what you want to create and how you will measure its success. Make sure the idea is well vetted and there is a solid business case behind it. There are roughly 600 new apps submitted to Apple each day—what is going to differentiate your app from the thousands that are already available and being launched each week? Here are some questions you’ll want to ask when getting your app idea..."
