Beep Me! Better than Calendar for quick reminders

image

I love Apple and they usually get things right, but the Calendar app leaves a bit to be desired.  I often have to enter quick reminders and the built-in app can be cumbersome.  For example, if I need to check the oven in one hour, I should be able to set a reminder to do that without having to tweak dials to set a clock for an hour from now.  Why can't I just touch a button that says "+1 hour" and be done?

Scosche boomCAN Review

image

Scosche designed one of my favorite headsets, so I was looking forward to hearing what their inexpensive external rechargeable battery-powered speaker sounded like. Does the boomCAN do audible justice to projecting high-fidelity sound for portable devices like the iPhone and iPad? Read on to find out.

Let's face it — the external speakers on iOS devices are adequate for short bursts of close proximity listening, but they're not the best when sharing the sound with others. The audio quality is pretty good, but volume is a problem.

Griffin Stylus + Pen + Laser Pointer Review

image

Even though the iOS devices are stylus-free, there are growing numbers of artists, note takers and business users who are more comfortable using a stylus when navigating and creating data and imagery with their iPhones and iPads. But given the single purpose-built functionally of such rubber-tipped styli, its yet another item that has to be carried around. Griffin Technology, a company that knows all about iOS accessories, has combined a tablet stylus with a pen and a laser pointer. It's three separate pointing devices melded into a standalone multi-purpose product. Read on for the full review.

More evidence Apple will be introducing two new iPhones

image

No one knows for sure, of course, but two reports are again suggesting that Apple will be releasing two iPhones this fall: an iPhone 5 with a larger screen and an iPhone 4-plus, a lower-cost phone for the pre-paid and international markets. One report, from an analyst with JP Morgan and summarized on AppleInsider, describes the two phones. He says the iPhone 5 will also be thinner and lighter in addition to having a larger retina display.

App Review - Urban Rivals

image

Freemium games have certainly escalated throughout the existence of the App Store. The model is cheap[er] for developers, and most games like such are a big hit among iPhone gamers who can't quite spend money to whet their gaming needs. Another application like described, is Urban Rivals. You can download it on the App Store absolutely free but only for a limited time.

Callet iPhone Case Review

image

If you're an iPhone user, you already know the convenience of combining functionality into a single package. The iPhone is a phone, a music and video player, a computer and a camera all rolled into one. So for those who prefer multi-functional design in a single, small package, the Callet case combines a protective rubberized slip case with two slots on the back to house credit and identification cards, cash, bus passes and more. Is this enough of a differentiator for the Callet compared to the catalog of other iPhone case options? Read on to find out.

What I Played this Week - Magic Defenders

image

Magic Defenders, a tower defense challenge for iPad and iPhone that requires you to master a mix of magic weapons to keep the invading orcs out. Other than pleasing animations, the game is pretty standard TD--not that it isn't still fun to flatten a bunch of orcs with a bombardment of lightning (especially the ones riding the green walruses, if that's what they are).

More rumors about two new iPhones, one with different form factor

Rumored details of the new iPhone/s continue to crop up, with some suggesting that there will be two iPhones coming out next month: a low-cost iPhone 4S with an option for a prepaid plan and an iPhone with a new design. Read more on TiPb. The best evidence for a larger-screened, thinner, more tapered phone continues to be the leaking of photos of cases that have been manufactured for the new phone.

Everything iPhone - Apps, Accessories, Reviews, Wallpapers etc | iPhone Life Magazine

The iPhone has become a benchmark for all other smartphones to compete with.  Reviews on the cases, accessories, apps, wallpapers and more are located below.  Here are a couple of Articles that showcase what we have to offer.  For eaxample, iPhone 4S by Alex Cequea (iPhone Life Magazine Editor in Chief).

In that article, Alex says that the iPhone 4S has the exact same physical form factor as the iPhone 4. However, the insides are a whole different story, and Apple tried to make that very clear. The most notable improvements are the 8MP camera with 1080p video recording, the A5 dual-core processor (same as the iPad 2), and an improved battery life (8 hours of 3G talk time, 200 hours of standby). As far as the capabilities, the new Siri Assistant feature was the highlight of the show. The Siri Assistant recognizes natural language and can answer questions such as, "What's the temperature out today?" Combined with the phone's GPS, you can say something like, "Remind me to call my wife when I get to work." The Assistant will not only know who your "wife" is, it'll also know where "work" is and pop up a reminder to "call Marcy" when you get there."

Here's another great article, The Best iPhone 4 Cases. This article goes on to explain that like its iPhone predecessors, cases have become one of the most popular ways to accessorize your cell phone. Most cell phone consumers buy a case bundled with their new phone to protect it from day one. And who can blame them? Mobile devices have become hugely valuable and expensive items; you want to protect them the best way you can. There are literally hundreds of cases on the market. Let's examine the different options available on the market to help you choose the one that's right for you.

What to know how to create your own app?  "The first step in creating an app is to understand what you want to create and how you will measure its success. Make sure the idea is well vetted and there is a solid business case behind it. There are roughly 600 new apps submitted to Apple each day—what is going to differentiate your app from the thousands that are already available and being launched each week? Here are some questions you’ll want to ask when getting your app idea..."
