JumiCam iPhone App Review

image

The JumiCam app allows you to view streaming video from any web cam you want with ease.  I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to set up the software on my PC and then connect from my phone to see what’s going on at my house.  The JumiCam app also works very well on either a 3G connection or WiFi which I was initially concerned about because streaming video can sometimes have issues on 3G.

IK Multimedia Review Extravaganza

image

IK Multimedia has been a company on a roll lately, with a slew of hardware and software products tailored for amateur and prosumer musicians. Whether its stands and clips for iPhones and iPads or multitrack recording and sampling software for the iOS platform, IK has been expanding their catalog at a prodigious rate. Their latest releases include a MIDI hardware connector for the iOS platform, a sound sampler app and a iPad version of their popular VocaLive software. This review will take a closer look at each.

No Siri for older devices

image

Of course I’m dying to have Siri on my iPad 2. But Apple’s official line, reiterated in a report on Cult of Mac, is that Siri will only be available on the iPhone 4S. Responding to a query from the website, an Apple engineer said. “Siri only works on the iPhone 4S and we currently have no plans to support older devices.” Of course, the optimists among us focus on the word “currently,” hoping that it’ll happen in the future. Despite Apple’s rationale that older devices aren’t powerful enough to run Siri, hackers have been able to show that it can run on older phones.

Let your iPhone help your pinhole camera...

image

One of the problems pinhole photographers (like me) have is getting exposures. When you use a camera that has f/108 as its fixed setting, it gets a bit difficult when you have to calculate exposures. Using your iPhone, with ExifWizard, you can now check out exposures quickly. Take a picture with your iPhone, open up ExifWizard and you'll see the exposure. Once you have the exposure, you can calibrate the exposure for your pinhole camera. It takes some math, but the iPhone makes it much easier.

Tutorial: Play MAME games on your iDevice

image

If you come from Windows Mobile and are into playing MAME arcade games, you may well remember my full article dedicated to the emulation of arcade machines, including MAME, on the platform. (Note that the linked article doesn't show inline images; if you need them, check out THIS instead.)

Fortunately, on the iDevice, it's also possible to play MAME games. No, unlike on Windows Mobile, not the newer, vastly superior (NeoGeo / CPS), “only” the older ones, but it's still more than nothing, isn't it? And it's free – and is also compatible with several Bluetooth game controllers (see below).

Siri and Me: A Love Story

image

I wasn’t sure I was going to like Siri at first. I’m kind of ashamed to admit it now, but I wondered if once the novelty wore off I would still find her useful. Getting a new phone is kind of like dating, isn’t it? Just like a new phone, a new person always seems so exotic and fascinating until all their quirks just become annoying. But I haven’t had that experience with my iPhone—it just keeps getting better!  And now that we’ve added Siri to the mix, well?

I’ve asked Siri to marry me. (Please don't tell my wife!)

Ultimate Comparison of the iPhone 3G to other Mobile operating systems and devices - Part I

image

At last, I was able to afford an iPhone 3G without an expensive data / phone plan (meaning a much higher starting price). Of course, I've been playing with the device since then.

Filamente SharePoint App Review

image

Filamente SharePoint is an app that every professional should have.  Especially for those that are constantly involved with documents; this app is perfect for your needs.  In a basic sense; Filamente allows you to upload, download, and share all of your desired documents.  Even though that doesn’t seem like much; if you do a lot of business from your iPad or iPhone, then you realize the difficulty in viewing and uploading certain documents due to format.  Luckily; this is where Filament SharePoint comes in to make things easier.

Huge demand for iPhone 4S continues; stores selling out daily

image

The iPhone 4S is still selling like crazy, with AppleInsider reporting that 85% of the Apple Stores surveyed ran out of stock each day. But apparently their stock is being replenished every morning, so that customers who leave empty handed are able to make an appointment to pick one up the next day. There is similar demand around the world.

Everything iPhone - Apps, Accessories, Reviews, Wallpapers etc | iPhone Life Magazine

The iPhone has become a benchmark for all other smartphones to compete with.  Reviews on the cases, accessories, apps, wallpapers and more are located below.  Here are a couple of Articles that showcase what we have to offer.  For eaxample, iPhone 4S by Alex Cequea (iPhone Life Magazine Editor in Chief).

In that article, Alex says that the iPhone 4S has the exact same physical form factor as the iPhone 4. However, the insides are a whole different story, and Apple tried to make that very clear. The most notable improvements are the 8MP camera with 1080p video recording, the A5 dual-core processor (same as the iPad 2), and an improved battery life (8 hours of 3G talk time, 200 hours of standby). As far as the capabilities, the new Siri Assistant feature was the highlight of the show. The Siri Assistant recognizes natural language and can answer questions such as, "What's the temperature out today?" Combined with the phone's GPS, you can say something like, "Remind me to call my wife when I get to work." The Assistant will not only know who your "wife" is, it'll also know where "work" is and pop up a reminder to "call Marcy" when you get there."

Here's another great article, The Best iPhone 4 Cases. This article goes on to explain that like its iPhone predecessors, cases have become one of the most popular ways to accessorize your cell phone. Most cell phone consumers buy a case bundled with their new phone to protect it from day one. And who can blame them? Mobile devices have become hugely valuable and expensive items; you want to protect them the best way you can. There are literally hundreds of cases on the market. Let's examine the different options available on the market to help you choose the one that's right for you.

What to know how to create your own app?  "The first step in creating an app is to understand what you want to create and how you will measure its success. Make sure the idea is well vetted and there is a solid business case behind it. There are roughly 600 new apps submitted to Apple each day—what is going to differentiate your app from the thousands that are already available and being launched each week? Here are some questions you’ll want to ask when getting your app idea..."
