Review: Pocket Warriors by Rainbow Game

image

Some have reasonably argued that full fledged RPGs are a bit too overwhelming for the portable market where the majority of users only spend minutes at a time playing games.  Several developers have attempted to provide the RPG fix without the RPG commitment, and Pocket Warriors is one of those games.  It actually fits the mold somewhat well, except for the fact that it’s so watered down the game play becomes redundant and boring rather quickly.  At least it looks pretty and sounds halfway decent, though.

The Exonerator is a tracking app that lets you track the movements of an iDevice owner, or yourself, as long as it is installed and running in the background. The app has a simple design and its function is straightforward. The interface is not cluttered in any way and there are just a couple of options for you to tinker with.

iPhone 5 rumors: more evidence of 8-megapixel camera, October release, Sprint offering

image

It has been rumored for some time that the next iPhone, expected in October, will have an 8-megapixel camer. AppleInsider reported today the latest evidence for this: information regarding the two manufacturers that will be providing the lens.

Deep Twitter integration with iOS 5

image

When Apple announced iOS 5 in June, they said that one feature would be deep integration with Twitter. Basically, the idea is that you will be able to post just about anything from your device to Twitter with a tap. One barrier to this deep integration was that Twitter was reluctant to have other apps supercede it's own. That has changed. The buzz yesterday was a note from Twitter head Jack Dorsey to deveopers encouraging them to work with Twitter to make this deep integration happen.

iPhone Photography for Teachers

Although there seem to be a zillion iPhone photography Apps (with the number growing everyday) there's still one App that I think teachers can use on a daily basis...the Camera. As one who spent 28 years as a classroom teacher and an additional 6 as a teacher trainer, I know how handy a camera can be. Since the iPhone is with you all the time, it becomes even more important as a camera. Here are a four things I'd do if I were still in the classroom...with my iPhone and Camera.

iPhone 5 rumors abound, with many suggesting October 7 launch, and new rumor of thinner shape

image

Apple really knows how to stir up enthusiasm in its fan base — say nothing and enjoy weeks and months of speculation. It's extraordinary advertising, and free. By the time they announce, everyone is at the peak of frenzied interest. The rumors this summer have been all over the map. Lately, the word is that there will not be a big change in the form factor. However, a recent report says that the cases that are appearing strongly suggest the new iPhone will be much thinner. You can read more on TNW Apple.

Review: Splash Ball by Sergio Flores

image

I try to be extremely patient with the games I review and play as much of them as I can before writing anything down.  I guess you’d call it giving them the “benefit of the doubt”.  Sadly, that benefit ran out for Splash Ball after playing level 2 for roughly the 30th time.  I really want to like this game, if for no other reason than it takes the marble rolling game and gives it a different look, but I just can’t deal with terrible controls on a game that offers absolutely no leeway before dying.

Everything iPhone - Apps, Accessories, Reviews, Wallpapers etc | iPhone Life Magazine

The iPhone has become a benchmark for all other smartphones to compete with.  Reviews on the cases, accessories, apps, wallpapers and more are located below.  Here are a couple of Articles that showcase what we have to offer.  For eaxample, iPhone 4S by Alex Cequea (iPhone Life Magazine Editor in Chief).

In that article, Alex says that the iPhone 4S has the exact same physical form factor as the iPhone 4. However, the insides are a whole different story, and Apple tried to make that very clear. The most notable improvements are the 8MP camera with 1080p video recording, the A5 dual-core processor (same as the iPad 2), and an improved battery life (8 hours of 3G talk time, 200 hours of standby). As far as the capabilities, the new Siri Assistant feature was the highlight of the show. The Siri Assistant recognizes natural language and can answer questions such as, "What's the temperature out today?" Combined with the phone's GPS, you can say something like, "Remind me to call my wife when I get to work." The Assistant will not only know who your "wife" is, it'll also know where "work" is and pop up a reminder to "call Marcy" when you get there."

Here's another great article, The Best iPhone 4 Cases. This article goes on to explain that like its iPhone predecessors, cases have become one of the most popular ways to accessorize your cell phone. Most cell phone consumers buy a case bundled with their new phone to protect it from day one. And who can blame them? Mobile devices have become hugely valuable and expensive items; you want to protect them the best way you can. There are literally hundreds of cases on the market. Let's examine the different options available on the market to help you choose the one that's right for you.

What to know how to create your own app?  "The first step in creating an app is to understand what you want to create and how you will measure its success. Make sure the idea is well vetted and there is a solid business case behind it. There are roughly 600 new apps submitted to Apple each day—what is going to differentiate your app from the thousands that are already available and being launched each week? Here are some questions you’ll want to ask when getting your app idea..."
