The integration between devices and cars is only going to grow, and the new app myChevrolet gives you a taste of amazing things to come. The app is free, but you have to spend a thousands of dollars on a new Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, or Cadillac. myChevrolet has location-based services, such as one for parking. It allows you to save your parking location to a GPS-enabled map and set a timer to track how much time you have on the parking meter. Or if you have a mechanical problem, the roadside assistance feature locates the nearest dealership.
Gun Bros is now available on the App store... Looks like another awesome scroller/shooter game for the review queue. Reminds me of one of my current favs called BloodNGuns, which my daughter clued me in on.
SPB has been making great mobile software for years. Their Mobile Shell product probably kept many a die-hard Windows Mobile user from ditching completely when the iPhone came out. They have some great iPhone apps (SPB TV, and SPB Wallet...two of my favs), but they haven't struck me as prolific game producers (see my Quads review here).
You've got to hand it to Steve Jobs: when he introduced the iPhone in January of 2007, he predicted that Apple would sell 10 million iPhones by the end of 2008. Most commentators were scornful and said it was impossible. Even Macworld criticized Jobs, saying that the goal was unreachable. In October of 2008 Macworld reported that Apple had reached their goal.
I’m a big fan of Amazon. Actually bought 1000% more ebooks from the Kindle store compared to the anaemic shelves of the Ibook store. Price-wise, Amazon has consistently been cheaper than all the other major e-book retailers.
The “Just Mobile AluPen™ is a chunky pencil-shaped stylus” that you can use on your iPhone, iPod Touch or your iPad. In my review, I was using it with the iPad, as I do occasionally write notes and jot down ideas.
Sonos is now shipping their new wireless dock, and hopefully I'll get a review unit to try out soon. The dock fits the last piece of their home audio experience into place by letting you stream songs from your iPod or iPhone to your ZonePlayer (see my S5 review here for more info). The dock is currently $119 direct. Read on for the full press release or go here on their web site to learn more about the new dock.
Tap Disc is a a semi-quirky tap game featuring the challenge of rounding up bouncing and flying disks, but with the added twist of having to time and place your taps at just the right moment and screen spot. I warn would-be tappers that this game is not easy to master quickly (IMO), but presents unique, tap-elicious gameplay that is both pleasing to the eye, and engaging enough to keep you coming back for more. Read on for the full review...
Tilt to Live recently got an update that includes Game Center support and Retina-worthy graphics. You can grab the game (if you aren't already an addict) here. To learn more about this addictive and award winning game, see my Top App picks article here... I am loving the sharper game screens even as I write this. Shoot, no new power-ups though..! Well, it's rumored there might be another present in time for X-mas!
If you are looking for a guitar gadget for a friend or mate as a gift, or are a musician yourself and been looking for an easy and secure way to mount your iPhone or touch to your instrument, check out the Guitar Sidekick. Now you can easily attach your iphone or touch, and use all those cool music apps you have installed! I'll probably post up a short review myself, but you can find them here at castiv.com
The iPhone has become a benchmark for all other smartphones to compete with. Reviews on the cases, accessories, apps, wallpapers and more are located below. Here are a couple of Articles that showcase what we have to offer. For eaxample, iPhone 4S by Alex Cequea (iPhone Life Magazine Editor in Chief).
In that article, Alex says that the iPhone 4S has the exact same physical form factor as the iPhone 4. However, the insides are a whole different story, and Apple tried to make that very clear. The most notable improvements are the 8MP camera with 1080p video recording, the A5 dual-core processor (same as the iPad 2), and an improved battery life (8 hours of 3G talk time, 200 hours of standby). As far as the capabilities, the new Siri Assistant feature was the highlight of the show. The Siri Assistant recognizes natural language and can answer questions such as, "What's the temperature out today?" Combined with the phone's GPS, you can say something like, "Remind me to call my wife when I get to work." The Assistant will not only know who your "wife" is, it'll also know where "work" is and pop up a reminder to "call Marcy" when you get there."
Here's another great article, The Best iPhone 4 Cases. This article goes on to explain that like its iPhone predecessors, cases have become one of the most popular ways to accessorize your cell phone. Most cell phone consumers buy a case bundled with their new phone to protect it from day one. And who can blame them? Mobile devices have become hugely valuable and expensive items; you want to protect them the best way you can. There are literally hundreds of cases on the market. Let's examine the different options available on the market to help you choose the one that's right for you.
What to know how to create your own app? "The first step in creating an app is to understand what you want to create and how you will measure its success. Make sure the idea is well vetted and there is a solid business case behind it. There are roughly 600 new apps submitted to Apple each day—what is going to differentiate your app from the thousands that are already available and being launched each week? Here are some questions you’ll want to ask when getting your app idea..."
