Review: The Tossing Dead by 21st Street Games

image

When The Tossing Dead came out I included it in a weekly article called “10 App Store Games To Watch” where I discuss new releases that I think are worth keeping an eye on (or possibly even outright buying).  As no one is perfect, I’m sometimes wrong about my choices.  In this case, however, I’m definitely not.  If you’re a fan of Fruit Ninja style games, you’ll really enjoy this.  If you dig obliterating the undead, why not trying tossing them?  If you like both of the previously mentioned things, you’ll be in seventh heaven with this game.

Electronic Arts: Memorial Day Sale!

image

Every now and then a sale comes through the App store that you just do not want to miss. Last year around Christmas, both Gameloft and EA had huge sales on all of their hits, dropping prices for many top games to as low as .99 cents. Now, in honor of Memorial Day EA (Electronic Arts) is again having a similar sale.

UPDATED! Infinity Blade II: Vault Of Tears

It was just last week that I was sharing with you, news of the impending release of the latest chapter in the Infinity Blade series, Infinity Blade: Dungeons.

Implications of 16:9 aspect ratio of 4-inch widescreen iPhone 5

image

The rumors have been hot and heavy that the iPhone 5 will have a 4-inch screen (compared to the current 3.5 inches). And the big question was how Apple would accomplish that, with the latest round of rumors saying the current prototypes simply add pixels to the height, while keeping the width the same. The result is that in landscape mode you end up with a 16:9 aspect ratio, just like the widescreen shape of an HDTV. So now the speculation is how that space will be used. Again, Rene Ritchie of iMore has an excellent analysis of the options -- and what it all means. He includes very helpful mockups of these options, giving you a clear picture of how a wideiscreen will alter your user experience.

iPhone Remote + iPole = cool self portraits and videos!

image

I've been using (and have written about) the iPole from FastCap, since I first picked it up at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.  The hiking iPole model or the telescoping mini iPole both offer a tripod mount (and optional iPhone case with tripod thread) is a great way to take self portraits and include yourself in videos.  But the one downside is you have to stretch to turn on or off the recording mode.

image

Physics slots HD is a great slot machine simulator for your mobile device.  The free version comes with three unique types of slots, each with a progressive jackpot and multiple different betting options to choose from.  Whether you like the classic slot set up with lucky 7's, the bar and the bell, the fruit themed slots or a fun option based on playing cards, this game has it all.

Apple testing two iPhone 5 prototypes, each with 4-inch screen

image

9To5Mac seems to have some pretty good sources inside Apple because they have quite a lot of detail about two iPhone 5 prototypes that are currently being tested at Apple. Both devices have a 4-inch screen. And as some earlier rumors have stated, the phone will be the same width but will be slightly taller, at 3.484 inches. The new display will have the same number of pixels across, but will add 176 pixels to the height, with a resolution of 640 x 1136 compared to the current 640 x 960.

Everything iPhone - Apps, Accessories, Reviews, Wallpapers etc | iPhone Life Magazine

The iPhone has become a benchmark for all other smartphones to compete with.  Reviews on the cases, accessories, apps, wallpapers and more are located below.  Here are a couple of Articles that showcase what we have to offer.  For eaxample, iPhone 4S by Alex Cequea (iPhone Life Magazine Editor in Chief).

In that article, Alex says that the iPhone 4S has the exact same physical form factor as the iPhone 4. However, the insides are a whole different story, and Apple tried to make that very clear. The most notable improvements are the 8MP camera with 1080p video recording, the A5 dual-core processor (same as the iPad 2), and an improved battery life (8 hours of 3G talk time, 200 hours of standby). As far as the capabilities, the new Siri Assistant feature was the highlight of the show. The Siri Assistant recognizes natural language and can answer questions such as, "What's the temperature out today?" Combined with the phone's GPS, you can say something like, "Remind me to call my wife when I get to work." The Assistant will not only know who your "wife" is, it'll also know where "work" is and pop up a reminder to "call Marcy" when you get there."

Here's another great article, The Best iPhone 4 Cases. This article goes on to explain that like its iPhone predecessors, cases have become one of the most popular ways to accessorize your cell phone. Most cell phone consumers buy a case bundled with their new phone to protect it from day one. And who can blame them? Mobile devices have become hugely valuable and expensive items; you want to protect them the best way you can. There are literally hundreds of cases on the market. Let's examine the different options available on the market to help you choose the one that's right for you.

What to know how to create your own app?  "The first step in creating an app is to understand what you want to create and how you will measure its success. Make sure the idea is well vetted and there is a solid business case behind it. There are roughly 600 new apps submitted to Apple each day—what is going to differentiate your app from the thousands that are already available and being launched each week? Here are some questions you’ll want to ask when getting your app idea..."
