Apple News: Bigger Cases for Bigger iPhones

image

Apple had so much to talk about on Tuesday that some new products didn't get mentioned. Apple first introduced bumpers with the iPhone 4, in part to help with the AntennaGate problem. Later, the iPhone 5c got a bunch of brightly colored cases. Now, iPhone 6 and 6 Plus customers can choose official silicone or leather cases from Apple. The cases also come in assorted colors, but they are more muted choices. There's a (PRODUCT)RED option with proceeds going to fight Aids in Africa. Silicone cases cost $35 for the iPhone 6 and $39 for the iPhone 6 Plus. For leather, expect to spend $45 or $49, respectively.

Visualizing the New iPhones

image

I ordered the iPhone 6 today, and thanks in part to a printout, I was able to use to see how big the new iPhones are. A colleague, Adam Engst, of TidBITS Publishing, makers of the Take Control ebooks, had printed those prototypes and taped them to cardboard, for a better sense of the three-dimensional size. That helped me rule out the iPhone 6 Plus.

Infinity Blade Chronicles: The Movie

image

If ever an iOS game deserved to have a movie made about it, it is Infinity Blade. In what will come as great news for any fans of the groundbreaking, award-winning iOS game, Infinity Blade is potentially about to be made into a short, fan-funded movie. At the helm of a Kickstarter campaign to raise money for this project is Josh Aker, composer of the Infinity Blade soundtracks. He talks to us about his vision and the incredible talent he's already amassed for this project in his Kickstarter video below. As you will see, his enthusiasm for the game and for the movie is infectious.

Carriers Offering Major Deals on iPhone 6

image

Already the iPhone 6 is selling so well that some websites are down, and shipping time is now 3–4 weeks. The carriers, recognizing that the iPhone 6 is going to be a big seller, are offering great deals in an effort to poach customers from other carriers. According to CNN Money, Sprint has rolled out a deal just for the iPhone 6 that offers you unlimited talk, text, and data for $50 per month. Plus, with their new iPhone For Life Plan, you get the iPhone 6 for $20/month, iPhone 6 Plus for $25/month — with no money down. The iPhone for Life Plan also guarantees a new device every two years. According to Bloomberg, Verizon initially launched an offer of a free iPhone 6 if you traded in your old iPhone. However, the article says that Apple complained, and so Verizon changed their offer. You can get a $100 gift card for a 16 GB iPhone 4S up to a $300 gift card for a 16 GB iPhone 5s.

The Apple Watch: What We Got Versus What We Hoped For

image

To say I wasn't overly impressed by the Apple Watch would be an understatement. To say I don't like the Apple Watch would be an overstatement. I get it, the Apple Watch is a huge evolutionary step forward, especially for a company known for making shrewd and cautious moves when it comes to entering new product categories. However, history has led me to have what are perhaps unduly high expectations regarding Apple and their products. So when the Apple Watch was unveiled, and it looked almost identical to the Samsung Gear, and it was dependent on being within 30-feet or so of your iPhone in order to function properly (among many other shortcomings including lack of waterproofness and poor battery life) I was left with the awareness that I'd expected "more" from Apple in terms of what their new smartwatch delivered.

Everything iPhone - Apps, Accessories, Reviews, Wallpapers etc | iPhone Life Magazine

The iPhone has become a benchmark for all other smartphones to compete with.  Reviews on the cases, accessories, apps, wallpapers and more are located below.  Here are a couple of Articles that showcase what we have to offer.  For eaxample, iPhone 4S by Alex Cequea (iPhone Life Magazine Editor in Chief).

In that article, Alex says that the iPhone 4S has the exact same physical form factor as the iPhone 4. However, the insides are a whole different story, and Apple tried to make that very clear. The most notable improvements are the 8MP camera with 1080p video recording, the A5 dual-core processor (same as the iPad 2), and an improved battery life (8 hours of 3G talk time, 200 hours of standby). As far as the capabilities, the new Siri Assistant feature was the highlight of the show. The Siri Assistant recognizes natural language and can answer questions such as, "What's the temperature out today?" Combined with the phone's GPS, you can say something like, "Remind me to call my wife when I get to work." The Assistant will not only know who your "wife" is, it'll also know where "work" is and pop up a reminder to "call Marcy" when you get there."

Here's another great article, The Best iPhone 4 Cases. This article goes on to explain that like its iPhone predecessors, cases have become one of the most popular ways to accessorize your cell phone. Most cell phone consumers buy a case bundled with their new phone to protect it from day one. And who can blame them? Mobile devices have become hugely valuable and expensive items; you want to protect them the best way you can. There are literally hundreds of cases on the market. Let's examine the different options available on the market to help you choose the one that's right for you.

What to know how to create your own app?  "The first step in creating an app is to understand what you want to create and how you will measure its success. Make sure the idea is well vetted and there is a solid business case behind it. There are roughly 600 new apps submitted to Apple each day—what is going to differentiate your app from the thousands that are already available and being launched each week? Here are some questions you’ll want to ask when getting your app idea..."
